PSers,
This is a fantastic community, and I have witnessed some really compassionate responses; supportive, and loving people share this board from around the world.
Major topics of discussion spin, daily, from politics, to new birth, the death of a spouse, and major natural catastrophes.
I am reaching out to my PS family for prayers for a special family. A family rocked to its core by Domestic Violence. A crime so heinous, it made headline news in People Magazine.
For the past few days, my heart has been screaming for this family because the biological father of one of the victims is my close friend of 25 years.
He has asked me to share this story because he wants to spread awareness, and he wants people to remember his daughter, Hannah.
I appreciate all who take the time to read to completion. The article, and Obituaries will be posted, at the end....

Hannah is the beautiful daughter of my friend of 25 years, Keith Gregg.

Keith gave me permission to share this tragic story with you. He wants the world to know who his baby girl was, how beautiful she was, and how robbed she was of a life filled with purpose, love & happiness.

He also wants the world to know her mother as a good woman who happened upon a very disturbed individual. She was in the process of leaving him, when he committed this horrific crime. Jan is as much a victim in this case, as Hannah. Keith does not place blame or judge Jan for what has transpired. She tried to do the right thing by leaving, and it resulted in her death & in the death of their daughter.

He wants the world to know he wants real changes pertaining to Domestic Violence, and laws to combat and prevent Domestic Violence.
If the system worked, his daughter & her mother would still be alive, today.

Hannah was 20 years old; almost 21. Pursuing a career in nursing, happy, in love with her boyfriend (still in recovery, after surviving the attack), and had a bright future.
That future was erased on 8/24/19 by a man who (since this article was written) has admitted to premeditated murder. Full confession. Cold-blooded.
The man who violently ended her life, and the lives of her mother, and her mother’s unborn child, was trusted in their home. He was her mother’s boyfriend & father of her future half-sibling.
He is a repeat offender, and yet, he was free to enter the lives of Hannah, and Jan. Welcomed into their home, unaware, until it was too late.

Domestic violence is REAL. Domestic violence must STOP, and our laws must CHANGE to PROTECT the INNOCENT.

Embrace Keith, his son (and Hannah’s half-brother), Alex & the families of Hannah & Jan. These families are in need of support & strength.

Keith & Hannah were separated by miles, but their bond was strong. He had recently made plans for Hannah to come visit him, here, in PA, in the coming months. He will never get to see her.

No words. Only love. ♥️

It was so tramautic that the town paid for a psychological autopsy. It’s so interesting. I’ll try to find it (it’s online) if you think it might help in any way.

Thank you. My oldest is almost 20; the same age as his son (Hannah’s younger half-brother). At any age, the loss of a child must be debilitating. To lose a child in such a violent & senseless manner....I just cannot fathom. There will be no viewing; only a gathering & memorial service. :(2

Whitewave, this was truly fascinating to read, in hindsight it seems to me that once a 'partner' threatens death that a person has to leave. This report was well researched and brilliant in its analysis. One thing I learned is one really doesn't know who is going to go thru with the murder BUT one MUST do what is needed to protect themself and their kids etc. Thanks for posting that, I have a friend in Austin who's cousin is brain dead because of her spouse, it's beyond painful for my friend and her family. So sorry for your friend also.

@Matthews1127 it's such a tragedy, I am so so so sorry for your friend and for everyone involved. Sending love your way to spread to your friend and anyone else you think needs it. We as humans must touch each other in love, not 'in love' but with love may be a better way of saying it.. sending you a touch of love.

I know, once I started reading it, I couldn’t stop. It is very well researched and fascinating. The part about how social media contributed is dumbfounding.

I'm so sorry to hear about this, @Matthews1127 - it must be unbearable for your friend and virtually as unbearable for you and other close friends, as friends are the family we choose.

I don't understand the mindset of those who would do such a terrible thing, and it makes me wonder what has gone wrong in the past to lead such an individual to be of a mind to commit such an act. Even if the death penalty is enacted it will never remove the pain and reverse what has happened, so I hope some understanding can be gained of the past and the 'why', so that lessons might be learned for the future.

I tend to think that everything in life happens for a reason, which we might not understand immediately but which might become apparent years from now, but it is things like this that make me wonder if that is really the case.

I hope you are all able to find the strength to get through this as you walk the darkest of paths you have been placed on through no action of your own. There will be happier times in the future, of course, but such events always cast a shadow over things, that may get smaller the further you get from it but is still there.

I will send you positive thoughts to help you keep strong for your friend, but don't forget to also take the time you need to grieve for yourself, so that you can come out stronger on the other side. It will be a long path but your friend is lucky to have you to hold his hand as you all walk it. x

@Matthews1127 I’m so sorry. Devastating tragedy. I can’t imagine how the family is feeling. A terrible loss. To lose a child in any way is tragic but like this. :( Senseless. A beautiful young woman with a promising future ahead of her. A wonderful career helping others. Her mom and her mom’s unborn child. :cry2:

Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers and hoping somehow sharing this will eventually make a difference. Sending you and the family gentle hugs and love.

And to all of you whose life was touched by violence in any way sending you love and light and healing hugs.

Thank you, everyone, for the beautiful words, and sympathy.
It means the world to Keith to know so many have reached out to show their compassion & support.

I have stepped back a bit to deal with this, and a few more tragedies that have occurred over the past few weeks.

I have attended 4 more funerals, since I started this thread; one was, yet, another world news attraction.

I stopped in with an update on this case.
I realize that many have different views of capital punishment.
The death of the guilty never bring the innocent back.
However, whatever the DA, and the state of Florida decide is justice for Hannah & Jan, I’ll take it.

This man deserves to face the consequences of his actions.
May God have mercy on his soul, because he won’t find it, here.

Such a heinous crime, and even more horrible that the perp was a repeat offender. My heart breaks for your friend and the remaining friends and families who have to walk through the aftermath of this tragedy.

Thank you.
It’s sad how broken the system is. He should never have been able to hurt anyone else.

Thank you for posting this! I read it with tears running down my cheeks. Without going into details, a lot of what is described here I have experienced- the risk factors. Awareness is key, and I am so glad they wrote this document!

@Matthews1127 I'm so sorry for your friend. We need to to increase awareness, without it we are naiive and prone to be subjected to abuse and worse.

I agree. I’m so glad they wrote that psychological autopsy. I have given the link to so many people— including the priest who was counseling my sister and her husband (both mentally ill).
