I saw this yellow sapphire, 2.47ct, 9*7mm eye clean, heat only. I see a little bow tie in the middle, and maybe a little brown? Hoping the other trained eye on the forum can tell me if i’m seeing it right. Thanks!

It’s too orange for my taste but a lot of colored stones is personal taste. It has a cert to confirm it’s not BE treated? That color in yellow sapphire often suggests BE treatments
Cut is not precision but I’ve seen worse for sure

It doesn’t have cert but is from one of the trusted vendor, price wise less than $600. I’m not after the size, mainly looking for bright yellow color. Some part of it shows the color I like, especially in picture 3, but the other is like not sure.

The middle is a bow tie effect. It is an artefact of the cutting. Have you looked at finewatergems? They have a few yellow sapphires.

I’m not a fan of yellow sapphires, but it’s a very golden color with shades of brown. That particular color is one of my least favorite colors, but some people like it. If it’s be treated, $600 is way too high of a price to pay. The bow tie is also distracting. If you’re going to get a yellow sapphire, it might as well be well cut.

I’m not fond of the color too. Feels like will be a bit brownish irl.

My non-expert two cents

To me it looks the color of a lower grade spessartite garnet going by the picture.

What shade of yellow are you looking for are you looking for?

Thanks all for chiming in, it is a pass then.

I did browse through their website, the two yellow sapphires under 1k are pastel in color? especially the studio shots are a little gray to me.

i have a pendant project in mind and the theme is about moon and cloud. I’m not sure if it is realistic, I want the main stone to be in round or oval shape, have the color that remind me soft yellow moon like this. I narrowed down the type to be yellow sapphire or chrysoberyl, no treatment or heat only.

Continuing my search for yellow stone.....I received this chrysoberyl for consideration. Basic stats: 1.995ct, origin is Brazil, 8.4*7.2*4.7mm, VVS close to loupe clean, no treatment. The color appears to me is yellow with a tine of green in the middle under some lightings, very bright. The cons are the half-half extinctions and a little bow-tie effect if looked closely. Shall I keep it?

Wouldn't be the color for me if I were looking for yellow, but YMMV.

I don't dislike it, just not my thing, and it doesn't quite seem like it's hitting that soft yellow that you're after.

Yellow is a very difficult color to nail down.

I saw a yellow sapphire at mastercutgems that looks nice. It's smaller than the other stones you've posted, but I like the color, and maybe it gives a reference: https://www.mastercutgems.com/Produ...w-Blue_Sapphire_1_16_carat-Gem.php?FromPage=1

Agree that it is not exactly that soft yellow I'm after, I'm wondering if it is a common thing with yellow chrysoberyl that most will have a greenish undertone. I don't see brown in it. Oh but it sparkles, holding its brilliance under dime light when compared with my garnet and tourmaline...still on the fence.

I prefer the chrysoberyl but agree it's probably not the very pale soft yellow you seem to be looking for!

A lot of chrysoberyl does have that greenish tone, but not all. There are also occasionally yellow garnets that pop up, and heliodore can be that nice soft yellow as well.

true green, not oily green, in chrysoberyls is beautiful. Some of them shift to green in different lights, and the ones that don’t are less interesting, JMO.
Agree about heliodores.
