My First Casual Carat

I finally had the right weather and time to take some photos. This is the ring I bought on impulse a few weeks after I decided that I wanted a bigger diamond lol Truth be told, it's the one carat diamond I bought so I wouldn't make a more significant purchase on impulse! If that makes sense.
She's a Champagne (C4) round brilliant with I1 clarity. I had no idea what those details really meant back then when I first saw her at a local pawn store. I just fell in love with how much she sparkled and that warm, taupe-y hue (I love my neutrals...). At about 1000 USD, I decided I had to have her.
On paper she is probably the most imperfect diamond. She's not that well cut so she's 6.15 x 6.2mm - not exactly spready. She has a bruted girdle with either a natural indent or chip on one side. No major carbon inclusions but with a loupe it's like looking through muddy pond water LOL. There's a feather and other odds and ends here and there. Definitely an I1, now that I know better.
YET! She is just so beautiful to look at and I enjoy wearing her out. Rightly or wrongly, I am not overly precious about her. In some light she's almost apricot and other times the brown really comes through. In other lights, she's dazzling in spite of her flaws.
When the time came to choose a carat of white diamond and ring via James Allen, I was mindful of clarity but at the last minute, I ended up choosing a marquise (which I swore I would never like) in F colour and I1 clarity. I'm taking my chances but it was love at first sight and given I had viewed over 300 diamonds on JA over the last two months, I went with my gut. I'll know in a week or so if I made the right choice :D

I dunno. I think it's pretty regardless! But I might be biased because I love champagne coloured diamonds! Yes please! More pictures!

A friend of mine once said, “if you love it enough, it goes with EVERYTHING”

I think she was talking about shoes, or maybe a handbag, but it holds true for diamonds as well. Congratulations on your new stones, and pretty please could we have more photos?

She's gorgeous!! I love the bold gold setting - very sexy! I'm a big believer in going with what your eyes love over everything else (grading, stats, etc.). BTW, we need more pictures!!!!! Congrats on this beautiful find!

Love champagne stones! Especially bc they tend to "hide" their inclusions well. What a gorgeous stone at a great price. I would have bought it as well--how could you not??

Nice job- nice price! If it has a brute girdle, is is an older stone?

You definitely should post more pics!

I think when you see something you LOVE, it doesn't much matter on the stats of the diamond (especially at that price!). I love warm diamonds - the soft sparkle they give off is just :love::love:

More pics please!!!

Thank you! Yes, I wondered if that was the case as you'd have to be a very lazy cutter these days to not facet a girdle? Hard to say but I wouldn't think she's very very old.
Will post a ring family shot once my new arrival comes :D

Thank you! Yes, I'm excited to have a 1ct colourless beauty coming soon but if I found the right bigger stone in champagne, I think I'd take it! Even the buttery yellows :D

Thank you! And yes, I think that makes perfect sense with diamonds too. The neutral of the champagne colour seems to match anything I wear :D Will definitely post more!

Thanks so much! I do like white gold and platinum but I'm just so used to yellow gold and it suits me best (I think). I did sweat a bit about putting an F in a yellow gold setting (prongs and all) but I love the contrast I see of the icy stone against yellow gold. We'll see!

I'll post my ring family soon :)

Thank you :) Yes, I didn't notice anything obviously wrong with her at the store. It wasn't until I got a loupe that I felt a bit sad about the inclusions but then I walked into a bathroom and fell in love again as the sparkles were amazing! I do look forward to getting a perfect stone one day (I have been visiting Whiteflash a bit too much lately...). For now, I love my little collection and will post more pics soon.

Thank you. I absolutely admire the cool icy look of colourless on white metal but this beauty just makes me happy. Yes, your heart wants what it wants and so happy I got her.
