He's as bad as Leon Mege. Also, what exactly is Instagram credit?!?

My* interpretation of “IG credit” is what would equate to “street credit”. This vendor gets a lot of DM’s from someone they believe is a potential buyer, only to not sell anything. I find no fault with that.
People walk into jewelry stores all the time to browse the cases, ask questions.....even try things on, and walk out without spending a dime. That doesn’t mean that potential buyer won’t come back, and actually purchase something.
When someone says you have “bad IG credit” or “bad street credit”, it usually means there’s a “reputation” of repeat behavior that some find unfavorable. Most likely because someone, in this case with jewelry, is “window shopping”, and “comparison shopping”. Apparently, vendors feel their time is being wasted, and taken away from buyers who are willing to drop their money, now...not later.
I find that entire exchange extremely in poor taste, unprofessional, and baffling. @tjkswift, I feel terrible for you. I cannot imagine how that made you feel, and I wouldn’t blame you for never wanting to reach out to another vendor for fear of judgement or criticism, again, in the future.
This is mortifying. :eek2: :eek-2:

I, too, find the entire exchange in poor taste as well as baffling. If I have 'bad IG credit" it would only be with him as he's the only vendor I've interacted with on IG. I just did a quick review our communication and I just don't see where I was out of line at all. I have inquired about several diamonds as not all the info was included in the ad that i wanted or needed to know. Several were already on hold by the time I contacted him. I could speculate all day as to why he choose to go the route with me he did, but in the big scheme of things, it doesn't matter to me. Also, I did notice another thread regarding his insult to PS'ers and in reviewing my communication with him, I did not mention PS.

Agree. When I think of all the times I've inquired with vendors because I was looking for just the perfect "thing" and they never had a problem with my myriad questions, it just blows my mind when someone objects to this. People like that should not be in business, or they should post prices on IG so we don't have to "bug" them by inquiring through DM. Senseless behavior.

This saddens me. I bought Hulk from Alex. He treated me with professional. We still chat till now about anything. He is the nicest and most accommodating vendor. Some other vendor never even bother to respond but Alex always responded promptly. So I don’t know why he did this to you. I also inquired about more than 5 diamond rings and I only bought one after months of asking questions and requesting videos. Seriously baffled by your experience...as I have nothing but nice things to say about Alex Parks.

I have not done business with this vendor, but I do follow his IG. He has some great stones at good prices. While I did think his response to you was out of line, perhaps he was dubious of you as a serious buyer since you were inquiring about completely different stones. Did he know you have 3 projects in mind? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt : maybe he felt he was spending too much time on someone who seemed undecided. Most buyers don't have the pockets to shop for 3 seperate stones at once (lucky you!) I just imagine if he understood that you were potentially making 3 purchases his response might have been different?o_O

I wouldn’t tolerate that at all..I have bad days and I’m not mean to people..The joke was less offensive to me but that was also in poor taste. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. How does he know how many of his customers are Pricescopers..and they didn’t mention it. It wasn’t the brightest thing to say when you have a business..I hate when vendors say DM me for deets..Just put your info on there and you won’t have to answer a bunch of questions that can be answered if they were listed.

Great point!!! It takes two to tango right? There are two sides to every story.

Quite plausibe - suggesting she upfront tell him about the three projects.
But that’s a quick stone throw away -imo- from a vendor wanting a good faith deposit to look for a stone for the projects. To make it worth their time. It’ll weed out windowlookers from serious buyers - and it’s all in how he presents it and interacts with the customers publicly and privately. Either can be taken well or snippy?
Now how they cuss/mock us under their breaths after the conversation is over in the privacy of their office - totally different story.

But it shouldn’t matter or drive a different response. If it does, that means he is only chasing the big sales/dollars; not the customer/longer term potential relationship.

There are a couple of vendors on PS who I have had the pleasure of working with, who treat me as a valued & respected customer whether my purchase is big or small. And that’s why I recommend and/or go to them/their business before others.

Agree. It’s appreciated. But I think happens less than we hear. IRL for a one/two person operation show- it may not even be sustainable to be a good business plan? That’s taking to the extreme tho.
Its also been talked about here a few times how certain (loved) vendors are more accommodating/attentive to higher dollar sale customers
And
If that customer is a good friend of a ‘good’ customer.

Edited for clarity
