iyaasgilang, those are pieces of shell. It looks like they may have been smoothed and worn down by the water. They are not pearls.

Here's the new addition, my lil' peacock Tahitian (:

I used purple leather cord instead of my usual antiqued brown leather and the bracelet has quickly became a staple in my wardrobe. Making them is a lot of fun and I love how they look!

i am obsessed! did you put it on the cord yourself? or would you mind sharing where you got it? i'd love a similar one

First post on the pearl side of PS, bought these for a friend. But iveI not seen anything similar posted here yet so thought I would share. Very casual pearls threaded with a thin 18k band so that you can spin the pearls around. Fun way to dress down pearls. I got her the more affordable pearls, as the Tahitians were lovely but twice the price. I live in an expensive city:cry2:

Here are some natural blue Akoyas and Tahitian necklaces. I know it looks like I have a lot of pearls but I promise you I have overcome this problem. :liar:

Aw, thank you!
I think this might be my first and last DIY, I almost failed at bending that wire nicely. I'll leave it to the professionals next time, this was more like an experiment done with improper tools and just enough materials for two tries.

It's gorgeous!
Good job on the wire wrapping.
It can be hard to get a neat, uniform wrap, especially up against a pearl without scratching it. You did great!

Thanks! It is a miracleI've actually managed to do this

No specific tools were used, just grabbed the smallest pliers from the garage, all the work was done on my lap or on my glass desk, in front of my PC...
Created the end loops using a metal rod (I first tried a bamboo skewer but it was too soft), and wrapped against it. It was difficult not having anything attached to a fixed point like a vice or something.
I had two 14k gold beads to place last, next to the outer pearls but I managed to crush one (they were paper thin) when I wrapped the wire so I ditched them and started again. Pearls did not get scratched because I worked with the full lenght of the wire (1 foot piece) and cut it when I was done wrapping.

I have a crystal point that I might try to wire wrap one day, but I will definitely first attempt this using copper wire.

Oh dear, from other commentators on a separate post about these same “pearls” it seems like I may have bought glass beads instead! :cry2:

Is there a way I can ask the forum to remove my prior post as so not to confuse others?

Hi Pinkmartini. Love your radiant smile btw. To ask the moderator to remove the post just hit the "report concern" button and ask them to remove the post.

I bought Tahitians from Pure Pearls a few years ago, and was very happy with both the quality of what I received and the service. I haven't purchased anything recently, but they have an excellent return policy, so you wouldn't be at much risk in taking advantage of the sale they have going on right now and seeing whether you are pleased with the purchase, as it would not be an issue to return them.

In general, gold lipped oysters (Pinctada Maxima) produce gold pearls, white lipped oysters produce white pearls & black lipped oysters (Pinctada Margaritifera) produce black ones. Is this what you mean?
