I think you made a great choice on the chain! I couldn't see the rolo working with the filigree type pendant designs, but it was absolutely great that you were able to take the pendants to the chain store and match exactly the right one! This will definitely be a beautiful statement necklace! I look forward to seeing it finished!

Thank you @diamondseeker2006, I just don't have the experience (or creativity) to imagine these things. That's the reason I post on here, to get the opinions of those who are more versed than I in these matters. I really liked the style of that Rolo, and the price, but ultimately it was completely unsuitable. I'm really glad you think the chain works!! I'm new to all this custom work, and felt rather lost throughout the project. So I really value honest opinions.

@SandyinAnaheim -

Wow! Love it!

Re the back, I am currently having charm made for a gold bracelet - all diamonds on the front, all engraving on the back. I'm using a Florentine pattern. But, with yours, I'm thinking some kind of Byzantine pattern? Either way, engraving of some kind. It's a pity you can't find a pattern that might incorporate some 2/3 or 1 pt diamonds; something that costs you almost nothing, but just to give it a bit of a wow factor if it flips for some reason.
Thank you @mrs-b! I looked up both of those engraving patterns and I like Florentine best. I look forward to seeing your charm soon! Because these pendants are already made and the stones set, I think setting additional tiny stones in the back might not be possible. I don't really want anything extravagant, just not an unfinished plain back. I think the idea Amy had of mimicking the scrolls on the back could actually work fine. I don't know why I'm so drawn to the look of scrolls. While designing this piece I kept sending inspo pictures and descriptions, for weeks, and poor Amy's designers just couldn't see what I was imagining. Then, I learned to draw on my phone!!!! That was @stonewell's suggestion, and then it all came together very quickly, and here we are. I never thought of the backs until I saw them. ;-) Inexperience blows.

Oh, I couldn't agree more about custom projects! All the details are difficult! I used a DBTY chain I already had for my new pendant, and I have already decided the chain is too dainty and am having a 1.5mm plat one with slightly larger diamond stations made for the pendant! Very hard to visualize chains with pendants when we don't have them in hand!

You're right, I had no idea. Wink and @Winks_Elf made my WB/ER so easy!! I wanted heavy, low-set, platinum, U-prong and lots of shinies, and they delivered with one CAD adjustment. For this project, I couldn't verbalize what I wanted, and I REALLY can't draw. Plus, I have absolutely no experience, no one to discuss the project with or bounce ideas off of. So I'm relieved that I'm not the only one that's had this issue. :oops2:

What's your new pendant? I'm excited to see it on a DBTY with bigger stones, I've seen your other chain and I really like it as a layering piece.

Sandy this is STUNNING!!!!!:love:
The handmade chain you went with is a perfect fit in my opinion.....I can't wait to see the finished product. If it were me, I think I would do some simple engraving on the back, I'm not sure on a pattern, something fluid to compliment the front. Please come back ASAP to show us the end result !

Thank you @jetmal! Amy said the engravers recommended making a pattern on the back that is similar to the front, on all the pendants, and they should all be done by the time I go back on May 7th. I think that will work out perfectly and look a lot better than a plain old back. ;)2

Amy sent me the patterns on the back for the small pendants, I think they look great! What do you think?

I just learned that Amy won't be in on Tuesday, and my chain isn't completed either...so I won't get to choose placement of the pendants until the end of the month. :(2

I can't quite make out the details in the photo for some reason, but it looks nicely finished compared to being left smooth!

Maybe it's because I cropped the photo? Here's the original image, I hope it works better.
