Just upgraded my iPhone 6 to an 8 plus using the 2x zoom and I love the dual camera! This is one of the diamonds we inherited that I just had reset into a white gold solitaire band

How can I capture the sparkle and fire of my diamond in a photo with an iPhone?
It sparkles like mad IRL, but I can't capture that with my phone :cry2:

Part of the problem is that you see with two eyes and the camera only has one.
Have you tried taking photos outside on a sunny day in the shade of a tree and keeping the button down for rapid multiple shots?

A tripod will most definitely help. I was able to take the shot below but unable to recreate it

Camera setup: Canon 5D MK III w a 24-70MM MK II F2.8

Had the dslr propped on a tripod in AF mode. Anchored my elbow to the table and held out my arm as steady as possible. For the camera focus, I used the live view finder. Frame up the shot then in the live view finder, zoomed in (not the lens, but the live view finder which will digitally zoom in to help you pick your subject) as much as your camera allows and then manually adjusted the focus on the lens. This will be trial and error...don't forget to hold your hand still! For the shot, I used a 2 second timer delay to reduce any vibrations from my other hand.

Non Macro photo:

I can’t either! I tried with my iPhone 7 and my rings look like they are brown! They’re very sparkly and I would like to share my stacking bands but can’t take a good photo!

I was having trouble as well and tried a variety of different lighting conditions. So far, what works best for my iPhone 7 Plus is outdoors on a sunny day. Shaded spots under plants are great.

I tried Setp 7: Using Magnification

I didn''t have a microscope or a magnifying glass, but I had my loupe so I used it. Here''s how the picture of my diamond came out.

It's looks very clear when it is captured with the help of loope

That setting! Did you get from the Diamond Bistro? Looks like my lost 1 carat total weight setting! If you ever want to sell, please message me!

Thank you. The setting was custom made by a local jeweler in Ft Thomas, Ky.

Any insight on what sort of lighting situation this would be? This is Dolly of xothebijouxbox on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/p/CLvNOgqlufo/?igshid=1ap81aol3101t

I’m thinking outside during sunny day but in the shade e.g. indirect lighting. But are there any other considerations? The pastels are gorgeous. Do you think she’s wearing colorful clothing to be reflected by the stones?

Indirect sunlight. Picking up pink phone case and other surrounding colors. As you can see, in one of the pics I am using my hand to block the sun at a certain angle to get the best lighting.

Edited to add that I use an iPhoneX.

Omg your pics are so clear. And your OECs look so pretty! The facet patterns are gorgeous. Can't wait to see the final matching side stone. (You were jk about not posting any updates until the SMTB thread, right??)
