Husband just clicked the "buy" button and I am in recovery, not quite believing my amazing great luck! (With both the ring and the husband, obviously). :)

It is from Adiamor, GIA certificate: 2.75 ct. marquise, SI1, K, Very Good cut, 15 x 7.34, faint fluorescence. That's a lot of finger coverage for only 13k, so we shall see.

It's an upgrade from my current marquise solitaire, which is a little under a carat and a half, SI1, H, medium blue fluorescence. (not sure on the rest of the specs offhand).

Thoughts welcome (both pros and cons).

It will be on a 2mm yellow gold band. This waiting is driving me nuts!

I think if the color looks "off" to me, I'll just wear it as a right-hand ring and keep on with my current wedding set.

Is this for your engagement ring?

I'm not sure. I might move my current wedding set to my right hand and wear this one as an upgrade, or I might keep my current wedding set in place and have this new one be the right hand ring.

It will probably depend on how it looks, to be honest. I want my engagement ring to look what I consider "traditional." So if the "K" tint on the new one is too pronounced, then it will be my right hand ring. Which probably makes no sense but I will be happy lol.

Also, I see you've been around here a long time. Do you have any thoughts on the diamond I've ordered? It's okay, you can tell me the truth. :)

Unfortunately, without any pictures/videos or links there really isnt much we can advise on. I hope you have seen pictures of it? Videos?
Aset? Anything else you can post?

Yeah, I'll just have to wait and see what I think of it "in person" to know for sure what I think of it anyway but just wondering if anything stood out to you from the specs. I saw pics and a video and compared them with similar stones but they were taken down after the purchase. Thanks.

ETA: The tint was quite noticeable and I'm not crazy about part of the girdle being "very thin" but it did look nice and sparkly and I know something's got to give for that size and price.

Also, the cut is not graded "Excellent" by GIA as I had stated, that's only a judgment from the company. Apparently, GIA did start giving an overall rating to diamond cuts in 2005, but it only applies to round diamonds, not the fancy shapes.

I can’t wait to see you new marquise. Love them. I have a K cushion cut. I really can’t see the color. I do wish it was a little more noticeable.

My ring should be here tomorrow but in the meantime, I found some pics/video. This isn't the site I ordered it from so I'm not sure on the etiquette; someone please tell me if I should delete it. I just googled "2.75 carat marquise" and it came up.

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/2.75-carat-k-color-si1-clarity-sku-5630237

If anyone wants to weigh in, please feel free to state your honest thoughts. I wanted to see this diamond "in person" because there aren't that many marquises at the size and price I'm after, but I definitely still welcome critiques on it. :)

ETA: For ex., besides the obvious tint (would you call that yellow or brown?), I see some bowtie and an inclusion close to the girdle, which is "very thin" in part. I can't translate all that to how it will look in a ring on my hand, though.

Or the short form, "Would you buy this stone, and why or why not?"

Waiting is making me a little crazy lol.

I don't know anything about marquise cuts, but the only things I see are the little bit of bowtie that you see (and then only from certain very specific viewing angles which you'd probably never see at normal scale and on the hand) and the colour from being a K. It looks really eye clean for an SI1. I suspect it will be a beauty once it is set and on your hand (particularly as your colouring tends to suit warmer tones iirc). It's a great size and it looks like it will send up a fair bit of flash. I'm excited to see pics of it IRL!

Thanks, cmd.

I can always send it back but of course I am hoping to get by with a champagne taste/beer budget ring lol.
