I’ve been sitting on this project for awhile and needed some encouragement.

My last pair of studs was a pair of BGD signature stones K, VS2 1.1ctw set in 8 prong settings that I loved. The only thing that would bother me would be at times, the tint of Ks as I am colour sensitive. I was aiming for size and ideal cut when I bought them, and colour was a relatively lesser concern.

As luck would have it, I had the opportunity to purchase a 0.8ct BGD blue stone from @JDDN 1-2 years later. I had actually bought this as a likely contendor for an e-ring stone for my little brother at the time, but after shopping around, he decided to go bigger. So I took on the cost of the 0.8ct stone as it was already in my hands, and kept it for a future project :mrgreen2:

I hung onto it for another year or so before I finally decided to make the leap to an upgrade for my studs. At first, I wasn’t sure whether 0.5ct to 0.8ct stones would provide enough of a visible difference to be worth the cost. You lovely people convinced me it would be! So the search began.

BGD was sadly low on stock for BGD blues within my range but I waited patiently... you can only imagine my delight when a stone became available shortly before Black Friday!! I know BGD does a ‘sale’ for Black Friday so I rushed to sell my old (very well loved) studs in order to fund the purchase of my new stone. Thanks @amoline !!

Then came the challenge of setting them... I have drooled over @snotty_pie ‘s gorgeous earrings many times and ultimately decided to start a thread on PS to ask about the settings. Snotty_pie was so accomodating and helpful! I didn’t want to seem like I was totally ripping off the design of her studs and offend, but I REALLY loved them- and she was super helpful in taking some more close ups to show me the detail and answering my questions.

I asked David Klass to help me make them. We revised the CADs many times over till they were just right (he was extremely patient with me and never made me feel like a bother!) as I was quite particular about the spacing I wanted between prongs, the outline of the entire stud and the curvature of each of the prongs. He did a magnificent job!!

So here they are:

2x BGD Blue stones (SBF)
0.8ct each
H VS1 and VS2
Set in floral platinum settings with la pousette backs.

I only have an older iPhone so found it quite difficult to photograph these... the sparkle is out of this world!!!

Congratulations, @Crystal_Dreams - what gorgeous earrings!

And what a treat to have earrings with diamonds of that caliber! I suspect you and @snotty_pie will start a PS trend with this beautiful design. :))

Wear in good health and happiness.

Oh, these are so pretty! I've never seen anything like this prong design (obviously missed snotty_pie's original post).

@Crystal_Dreams your new studs came out beautifully! @snotty_pie’s stud settings have always been some of my favorites and I love your interpretation of them as well.

Please do share some ear shots!

Such a unique design! Who says studs have to be boring? And you get the best of both worlds between clusters and simple studs -- a feminine floral outline and big stone sparkle. Glad you were able to make these a reality :)

Would love to see @snotty_pie 's original design of she is willing!

Thank you for all the wonderful comments!! It's awesome to be able to share my own enthusiasm for bling with others who 'get it' :D

Here is the thread where snotty_pie posted more photos of her own studs to help me design these:
https://www.pricescope.com/communit...pie-tell-me-about-your-gorgeous-studs.245380/

I am absolutely useless at taking photos so I'm struggling with the ear shots... Will try again tomorrow and see how they turn out! How do you guys do it?!

For what it's worth, I found a pretty good way to do ear shots:
1) Find a mirror - preferably one that is mounted, so you don't have to hold it up yourself.
2) Hold the phone such that it's flipped around i.e you are using the normal camera lens with better image resolution, and not the "selfie" lens. This means that the back of the phone is facing you, and the screen of the phone is facing the mirror. (This also leaves my index finger free to tap on the phone screen, focus on the image, press click etc etc)
3) View the phone's screen display through the mirror reflection and adjust your position, angle etc.
4) Pout a little, let your jewels do their sparkle and light dance, and viola! You have it.:D

Sorry guys!! I’ve been trying with the tips posted above, but I SUCK at ear shots and my iPhone 6 really isn’t now up to the job of showing these off.

Here are my crappy ear shots and one for perspective on size. For some reason, they look a LOT larger to me in person (and my ears look HUGE here!) I’m guessing the difference is probably the sparkle factor which is missing from these photos!

The posts on these are a lot thicker than I’m used to, so they’re hurting my ears quite a bit :( I’m trying to stretch out my holes, but as I usually take off all my jewellery to shower and sleep, they keep closing. I may have to just leave them in for awhile till my piercings adjust... such is the price we pay to enjoy our bling!!

They look beautiful on you! Great size and presence. Are the posts thicker because they are screw backs? If you don't get used to them, you can always return them and have regular posts and backs. I could never wear the screw back earrings either; the taking them in and out got to be painful for me.

Thank you!!

The posts are thicker as they are la pousette backs which I requested from DK for safety. I’m pretty clumsy so I risk accidentally ripping the back off when I get changed etc and the thought of losing a stud is horrifying! It took me awhile to get these made after I sold my last pair of studs (which had thinner posts anyway- they were push backs) and I’ve been wearing some pearls which have SUPER thin posts relative to these since. I think my piercings adjusted to that. The pearl stud posts are like... half the size of the posts on these...

I bled a little from putting these in :( ouch!

ouch, I have a similar issue. I am pretty klutzy and have trouble getting earrings on and off and my lobes are sort of thick so that also makes it a bit challenging. I cannot do thick posts generally but need them a bit longer to get through my thicker piercings. I think that is why I gravitate towards lever backs and fish hook earrings. However once you get adjusted to the la Pousette backs (and hopefully you will) it will become much easier and there is probably nothing safer and more comfortable once you and your ears are used to them.

They look gorgeous on your ears!:kiss2:
