OMC and Ruby Halo by David Klass aka My Super Bowl Ring

Hi All!

It’s been a while since I’ve been on, so I thought I’d share a recent project that finished up a few weeks ago... it’s also perfect timing because my DH has dubbed it “The Super Bowl ring.”

I had acquired a beautiful 1.2ct O/P OMC from Ivy & Rose last April, and always wanted to make a statement ring. Here’s the original stone and inspiration:



I began working with Amy on the CADs at the end of summer and after several revisions we had it all set to go. Changes were made to the shank and undergallery - I love how it turned out!

Specs - 1.2ct O/P center, .30ct single cuts and 2.6ct calibre cut rubies.

Although I received a model of the ring before it was casted, the finished piece faced up much larger than I expected. So, I decided it would look better and more balanced on my middle finger Still, it makes quite a statement. lol

Shhh... don’t tell anyone - I’m sneaking on here while I’m at a Super Bowl party.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your sweet comments. It’s been fun designing and now wearing this ring - the rubies are so glowy when it catches the sun. We’ve had a lot of rain lately (thankfully!), so hopefully there will be more sunny weather soon.

@elliefire99, yes, they were custom cut, which took a couple of months to complete. All in all, the wait was totally worth it.

@foxinsox, my first impression was “Omg, it’s so huge!” Actually, DH just pointed out the parade of Super Bowl rings on TV and said “Look hunny, there’s your ring!”

@mrs-b, wasn’t DK’s IG post fantastic? I loved the color change effect they used; it was so clever!
