I was inspired by @mrs-b I bought a .40 M color vs1 through James Allen..It came out 1.9 on the Holloway so not too bad for a bracelet.I plan on getting it and having David Klass bezel it and make me a DBTY bracelet. I won’t know until I get it and put it next to my metals to see what one I will have it made in..I’m very color sensitive but since it’s way over to the other side..for some reason I love the very warm color. I hope it looks somewhat like mercury glass like I love. If it does I may have it made in platinum because it will gray and kind of blend in which I like..I hope I love it when I see it! I’m going to have David make me a very secure clasp as I keep losing my bracelets with the little round clasps..maybe a tiny lobster claw?

I sure enjoy my DBTY that I had made this summer. Can’t wait to see your new stone and the finished bracelet!

Cant wait to hear what you think of your M? I'm always surprised at how white some of these lower colors look.

Me too! I usually get g color because I can start to see color after that..but I saw Mrs-b’s and I loved it. I thought about getting an oec one but thought I would get this little one so I can see how it looks in real life. It looked so gorgeous on the video..

@mrs-b Thank you! I love pink but I don’t really like rose gold..I’m very strange. I just asked DK for a quote on platinum and white gold. I should have asked him about yellow gold but I can always do that. I even told him about my mishaps with my unmentionable studs from India and how the jeweler there stamped 14k on the outside of the earring setting.. He offered to buff them out for free. He sounds like a very nice man.

That's a lovely stone!! I think you'll love the M. Beauty comes in all colors, if you open your mind to it. Can't wait to see the finished bracelet.

I picked one with brown undertones as opposed to yellow. It looks like mercury glass to me which I love. I don’t like rose gold. David Klass said I should go for gold rather than platinum because it will be sturdier if I snag the bracelet. Since my diamond has a brown undertone I think it would look better in white gold as opposed to yellow gold. What do you think?

Thank you! I hope I love it! I mostly have f/g but I’m was in love with mrs-b’s warm stone. I thought a little one for a DBTY bracelet would be perfect..If I don’t love it I can return it and get a whiter one. I’ll still have DK make me the bracelet. I’m hopeful because it’s beautiful on the video..

I think the contrast between the color of the stone & the white gold would be so pretty! Especially with the brown undertone :kiss2:

I LOVE that color! I think the undertone is more grey than brown, so i think a white metal should look fine. DO go with a plated white gold, tho; if you want contrast, then go after contrast hard, rather than half-heartedly. A white bezel on that beauty will look amazing!

ETA And - yes! 100% mercury glass! A perfect Christmas piece. :))

Thank you! I was aiming for your color in an M..I am so color sensitive but I’m fine with a g..so it really surprised me how I fell for your stone...It’s returnable so if I don’t like it in person I can always get my white color..but I’m hopeful..

I LOVE IT @Mamabean. It has a beautiful warm richness to it. Like you, I also love the whiter stones, my ER/WB is an F. But I bought a beautiful and unique 1920s OEC ring that was estimated to be an H, but it is actually closer to L/M. I was going to return it, but as soon as I put it on, I QUICKLY learned to appreciate it for its own beauty. It's different than a higher colored stone, but it is just as beautiful. I no longer discriminate against color, I simply enjoy each color for what it is on its own, without comparing it to any other. And I think you will do the same.

@Mamabean -

For what it's worth, I think there's a lot of grey undertone in mine, also. But just remember, an M is far whiter than an R, so you won't get that same depth of color. I do love the color of yours, tho, and think it will be a beautiful piece!

You're welcome!! In terms of tonality, mine has yellow undertones. What this means in real life is that it sometimes looks champagne-colored, but she's a chameleon. Sometimes she looks slightly buttery, and other times lightly golden, and then sometimes a super white disco ball. Now trying to capture that with my camera is proving difficult! It faces up white even though it's set in white gold! As requested, here she is.

Here she is sitting against my G/H 1940s 6-stone.

And this is as much color as I can capture.

Thanks so much! I think you will love your M for its own unique beauty, and the various ways it will pick up and reflect light in different situations. Wait till you see!

Joanne, a funny story for you; a few months ago DW and I stopped by a small auction preview and found an 18KYG diamond bangle among the pieces. The description of the diamonds was 4.50 tcw, but nothing on color or clarity. I had my loupe with me and determined the diamonds were very high quality, they sparkled like crazy! So next day we went to the auction and were able to buy the bangle for a very good price.

A little later we dropped it off for an appraisal, and much to my surprise the diamonds were graded as M+/VS but cut, polish, and symmetry were all excellent. The appraiser offered us the option of putting M+ or "light yellow" in the appraisal, so of course we opted for light yellow. ;)2
The lessons learned are:
1. I am hopeless at grading diamonds. :oops2:
2. A yellow gold setting, and great cut quality can make a huge difference to the appearance of lower color diamonds.

Here are some photos, and yes, DW does have a hand, it's only my lack of photography skills that cut it off. =)2

Lot 138 4.59ct Diamond $2.5-3.5K 1.jpg Diamond Bracelet 1.jpg
The most important part is DW loves her bangle, and I vote a yellow gold setting for your beautiful new diamond.

Wow! Great story! That bangle is gorgeous! Yours has a yellow tint where my soon to be diamond is more grey/brown. I love the yellow gold with yours..It looks like sunshine! I’m going to put it next to different metals to decide before I send it off to be made into the DBTY..Decisions!

Thanks @Mamabean I do think the yellow metal is contributing a lot to the yellow tint, and to be honest, we didn't even notice the tint until the appraiser pointed it out. To us the diamonds looked white against all that yellow metal =)2
