I called them today to place the order; should have it middle/end of next week. They said they have to ship it from NY to Seattle for QC before it ships out to me.

I was pleased though in talking to the gentleman there today who went on and on about how unique and beautiful it is, that it has only been in their inventory/online a very short time, and that I was lucky it was mixed up in the emerald cuts, otherwise it would have been snagged much quicker by someone else.

BN diamond: just to clarify some points.
Smaller table high crown so not worried about it being slightly deep.
I didn't look at the mm numbers to compare to others but a lot of the time they will be similar to others with lower depth.
Its an asscher type, culet comes to a point, right at the cut off of 1.05

Good symmetry - where and how much is a question.
A lot of the time it is a pavilion windmill facet that would not polish into line perfectly.
It has no impact on looks.
Rarely it will a crown facet that can be visible with very close viewing in some lighting.
The better cut the stone the less visible it will be.

Thanks so much @Karl_K :wavey: I will try to look at the facet meet points on the pavilion and crown closely when I get it next week, if a 10x loupe will allow me to see them well enough.

As far as measurements are concerned:
The JA ‘I’: 6.40*6.37*4.45
The JA ‘J’: 6.51*6.43*4.48
The BN ‘J’: 6.54 x 6.22 x 4.38

So mm-wise, the BN is ‘in the ballpark’ enough for me, albeit a little bit pricier than both JA options. But I also kind of view it as not really being exactly ‘apples to apples’, considering the BN has the more octagonal shape I prefer along with the wider windmills, tall crown and tiny table. If the performance is great/‘kicken’ ;)2then I can justify the price difference.

As you probably guessed, I like this one the best! This is actually one I would consider buying myself, if I were in the market! I can't see what's making the good cut grade in the video, so I have high hopes you can't see it in person, either!

70.4 depth is why they rate it good on a useless number based system.
But we know that depth does not equal spread on fancies and that numbers drool when it comes to fancies.

The diamond arrives tomorrow per the shipping notification from BN and as of 2 mins ago, I still haven’t gotten a single assessment comment back from James Allen on the other two diamonds, which are still showing on hold for me. Guess that works for me, as I should know tomorrow if the BN diamond is a keeper or not.

Please don't worry about assessments or comments at large vendors like these. I consider it meaningless. I have seen enough of those comments to know that they just choose a stone to say is better to close the sale. There isn't always much to back up that advice. The one you ordered appears to have the most desirable cut. Seeing it with your own eyes will tell you if you love it or not. I did not love either of the two from JA.

Thank you DS. I figure they’re going to say whatever they need to if they sense a fraction of doubt in a customer’s voice. I’m just hoping I’ll have enough time today and tomorrow to really observe it and get some pics to share. I leave Friday for a road trip to get my dad and bring him down for the holidays, so lots to do in a short amount of time.

It’s out for delivery now, so not only am I eagerly watching for the FedEx truck, but my pup is also on lookout duty in my office literally right now. She goes nuts when she hears either FedEx or UPS trucks come down our street.

We put the young kids in bed a little after 8. I saw that glorious white truck spin by through the window I was stalking, so I scurried out the front door to intercept FedEx Man before he rang the doorbell, causing the pups to bark. I see him deliver a package 3 doors down from us, so I stand on the front porch eagerly awaiting my turn. FedEx Man hops in his truck, fires it up, eases up to our house ...

And keeps going. :doh::cry2:

It was a FE Ground truck; and my pkg was priority overnight, so I don't know if it'd be on that truck or another. So we continue the wait ... hoping it's not too much later. We have early mornings tomorrow. :???:

Any ideas how late they deliver if signature is required? I am mostly worried about them showing up after we go to bed, and ringing the doorbell.

What time zone are you? They have delivered until around 9 pm at my house, but I’m sort of worried it’s coming tomorrow.

@whitewave I’m on the east coast. I know the drivers usually are out longer than normal during the holidays, so I wasn’t going to be surprised if it was late.

@diamondseeker2006 I did check the tracking when I decided I needed to go to bed, and low and behold, for some reason, it was back at the depot around 8:30 pm, which is odd. I made sure one of us was home all day since we both had appts at various times, and there was no note left or anything, so I don’t know.

I’m sure they will deliver it today. I’m anxious, but also sympathetic to the workload the FedEx/UPS/Etc companies have this time of year. Things happen, and in the grand scheme of things, if the worst thing to happen to me is a package arrives a day later than expected, I’m doing a-okay. ;)2

This happened to me. It’s the new/temp drivers. Do you live in a gated community? They either can’t figure out how to get in (not really their fault) or they quit before all packages are delivered. If it doesn’t get delivered today, you can have them hold it and I would go get it tonight at the UPS station.

I was told by BN early this morning (after they called FedEx) that it'd be delivered by 10:30. So far, nada. Problem is, we will be out from noon till 3:30, then I leave in the morning for a road trip to PA to pick up my dad for the holidays. If they miss us today, it won't be back to the depot till later tonight, so I'd at best be able to go there on my way tomorrow morning to pick it up. It's a first world problem, but a pain in the ass, nonetheless.

Alas, the diamond has finally arrived (actually around 4:00 this afternoon). I wasn’t home, but hubs was thankfully. The down side is that we’ve been so busy running various errands this afternoon that I have had all of 5 mins to open the package, take a quick look at it, and lock it away in the safe. We had to get dinner ready for the kids, baths, family down time, pack for my road trip tomorrow, etc. And we decided to take advantage of a BOGO on iPhones for ourselves, but today was the only time we could do that, so we had to get them set up this evening as well since I’m leaving early in the morning. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but my brain was just too frazzled to really ‘take in’ the diamond, not to mention my eyes being too darn tired to really see it. So I decided it’s best to just put it up for the time being until I am back, and perhaps get it out Sunday morning while (hopefully) everyone else is still asleep to get a good look at it.

I did snap a couple of quick pics, while I’ll have to upload from my (new) phone. They aren’t great because I haven’t yet fully figured out how the camera works for zooming and whatnot (it’s a little odd), but I’ll post them in a minute. :wavey:

That is all I had time to take, which stinks considering how excited I was for it to get here. :(

Hopefully I will get time to myself on Sunday to get more. :wavey:

This far, based on those pics, it looks good to my eyes. No real dead spots in those lighting conditions.
