Best cut for "east-west" blue stone ring?

In one of my first posts here (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/stone-or-ring-first.245383/), I asked for assistance in designing a men's ring for myself using some sort of blue stone - tourmaline, zircon, topaz, aquamarine, etc. In intend for the stone to site transversely (east-west is the term I keep seeing on jeweler's websites).
What would be the best cut for this, emerald or oval? I guess it would depend on the stone, too, yes? For example, many aquamarines use an emerald cut in order to show off that clear blue color. Any guidance?

Aquamarines are often in emerald cut not to show off the colour but because the natural shape of the rough is pencil-like, so it minimizes rough material loss in the cutting process.

Any cut will be fine for EW. It is dependent on the design to make it work.

Ah, I see. Thanks for educating me on why aquamarines are often cut that way.
