How I love eBay, but it makes for nail biting final bids.
I spotted a true rare treasure while scrolling looking for a white gold diamond tennis bracelet. I have a small yellow gold one but want to swap that to my right wrist and wear a white gold one with my engagement and wedding / eternity ring.
It was an auction, just listed, gawd, it’s a 9 day listing. Where is the instant gratification of a “buy it now” button when you want one!
So I’m thinking how high should I go. I changed my mind 3 times, and third time was a charm with my magic so called death number 4444.
The chances of another similiar one coming along are slim to nil, never seen one before and I’m an active eBay searcher and purchaser.
Now to go and transfer some funds to cover. Stay tuned, it’s a beauty.

Ok, so I’m hopeless at secrets and suspense.
This is what I won.
How amazing is this. I will post more photos after I actually receive it.
Feeling excited and a bit sick to the stomach after such a hefty purchase.

Yes it is. Not as “huge” as the photos look (photos have a mirror reflection) but it’s 10 carats of .25 carat ers and 2.30 carat diamonds.
You’ll love my mums response when I showed her the photos -
dear, why are you buying two bracelets exactly the same? I like the emerald one best, is the other one rubies?

I'm searching on multicolour.com and it looks like the alexandrite alone should be worth double what you paid, if not more. Incredible.

I didn’t even do a calculation before I bought, I figured the number would be scary and be way way more than I wanted to pay. Didn’t want to feel sad about missing out in advance. Though I honestly did think I would get “sniped” in the last seconds. It happens all the time. So, yes, there’s about 40 Alex’s, on multicolour site their similiar size, not as good colour change are $300 each. So that’s $12,000. Wow.

Are you planning on getting the bracelet graded/appraised? Would love to know what the appraiser says in terms of provenance and value. Wouldn't be surprised if the total value were much higher even because of the difficulty in finding so many matching stones.

Here in Australia appraisals are like “meh”. I’m not selling it anytime soon. The little Alex I’ve had for years was sold to me as an amythest because it was purple inside the antique shop. I had no idea until outside I was “what the ? It’s gone green? “ I thought it was like a “mood ring stone” because there used to be these “stones” that changed colour according to your “mood” (some sort of heat reactive chemical on glass). It wasn’t until I was better educated that I learnt it was Alexandrite.
And even at my Gemology course, only one of the lecturers has ever seen an Alexandrite in person. So certainly not at all common over here!
We just have opals and blue / green sapphires coming out our ears!
