Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and advice during my search. I think I finally narrowed it down to the stone and would like everyone's insight before pulling the trigger. I am getting tired of looking, I am not going to lie, it has been a truly grueling and exhausting process.

I have seen the stone in person and while I was told that it is eye clean, I can somewhat see the crystal from 10 inches if I were to focus on it. However, it somewhat disappears once I put it around 15 inches away. What are people's experiences with noticing a small crystal? I would hate for my girlfriend to always nitpick on it. She mentioned that size was important, and I tried getting her as big of a stone as I could while ensuring the color seemed pretty white. (H) here.

This stone alone is going to come out to ~$25K.

See attached for aset images, hearts and arrow, report, and a video of the stone.

Are you referring to the inclusion at 9 o’clock, along the arrow?

Yeah. The 9oclock looks about right

I’m a clarity freak. In all seriousness, inclusions bother me...a lot.
The larger the diamond, the more glaring the inclusions can appear, depending on the nature of the inclusions, and their location in the diamond.
If this Crystal bothers you, and you believe it’s obvious, you may want to continue looking to see if you can find a diamond with better clarity, for peace of mind.
I must say, it’s beautiful. I’m just concerned the clarity issue may never be resolved.
If you’re comfortable with an upgrade, in the future, then you have nothing to worry about, as that stone will eventually be traded in for something else, with, likely, higher clarity/color/size. If this is meant to be a forever diamond, double checking for another, more acceptable diamond, clarity-wise, may be advisable.

Personally, I would hold out for the right stone. With a $25K budget, there's plenty out there. If the inclusion bothers you now, it may be something that you will always see. However, it's a personal thing. Hope you find just what you're looking for.

Personally I would pass. I was able to spot the inclusion in your video while you were waiving it around. I personally would not love that...

If size is her only concern I think you can definitely go down a little bit in color. H is very white, but depending on the color of the setting and if its a super ideal like wf's aca or a chi, the color wouldn't be as noticeable anyways.

Thanks for the suggestions. However., I was hoping to stay above a H

An ideal cut stone is going to be brighter, and show less body color. There is minimal noticeable difference between H & I, esp. in the world of ideal cut, and super ideal cut diamonds.
This is an expensive purchase, and you have a really nice budget. You should be able to find something that doesn’t have such a noticeable inclusion staring back at you. Outside of the inclusion, the diamond you picked is gorgeous. You have to decide if you’re willing to risk it bothering her, as much as it seems to be bothering you.

Hi mistawow

25k, I would be playing it very safe mate! Save yourself a lot of bother go to some and speak with the highly recommended vendors on the forum. I have my favourite for many reasons . A well cut I will look better and brighter than an poorly cut H. Good luck on what you decide.

Thanks guys. I thought the cut on this H was pretty good.

I've seen some well cut H, I and Js, and ultimately decided to go with the H.

Surprisingly, $25K wasn't able to get me as far as I would have liked. Can't seem to be able to have it all.

The cut on this stone is well, ideal. Most people (PSers specifically), dont like to see inclusions under the table. It is easier to pick them out and
unfortunately, once you know its there your eyes will always pick it out.:???:

Your GF will be looking at the stone much closer than 10 inches (most of the time). She will most likely see it. Others looking at the stone from
a distance may not.

If I had a $25k budget I would hold out for a well cut stone with no visible inclusions.

If color is that high of a priority, you can always compromise on ct wt, look for the best mm spread in an H VS stone you can find.
Honestly, I think you’ve limited yourself into a corner, but that’s my bluntly honest opinion.
If this were my DH, I’d tell him to focus on the beauty & quality of the stone, rather than the size. H v I color is very minimal. They both still fit the parameters of “nearly colorless”. If he had to drop to an I in order to get me a diamond that was eye clean & mind clean, I’d tell him to do it! Spending $25k on a rock with spots just isn’t sensible to me....but that’s ME.
You have to decide what’s right for both of you.

I'd buy this is H/eye-clean SI1 - cheaper than $25K with wire discount: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3639112.htm

Thanks HappyNewLife,

I have seen the stone during the shopping process and thought that the inclusion might not be eyeclean given that it is smack in middle of the table.

I've been warned that what appears too good to be true cannot be good. Given that it appears to be a great value for the diamond (H, 2.4ct, larger spread, Si1), it also has been in stock for quite some time (based on the AGS report). Apologies for the pessimism, however, this has been an overwhelming process on my end.

In addition, I wanted to reach out to the community for the following items:
1. Can anyone else notice the inclusion in the video?
2. Does anyone think the inclusion hinders the diamond's ability to shine light/fire/brilliance?

Tough call. I actually have an AVR J SI2, and it's not a great SI2. In certain lighting conditions, I can easily spot the inclusion because it's right in the middle. That's usually bright direct light blasting through the ring. However, I'm indoors most of the time, and so it's not visible. I used to have an issue with it, but now, I feel it's a birthmark that indicates it's my diamond if I give it to a jeweler for repairs. No strangers has commented about seeing the inclusion, but many have complimented the sparkle.

But, I do understand the mind clean thing - my old rock was a VS1. You're going to have to compromise on something...

Ok, I really can't see it in the video, but it also comes up really small. Is there a link so we can see it in a larger format?

Have you seen the diamond in all lighting situations?
Are you trying to talk yourself out of this diamond?
It is a nice diamond. What is the exchange policy with this jeweler? Could you just drop it in a stock setting and see what she says? If it really bothers her, you can work with her to decide if she's willing to drop to an I or smaller. My guess however is, if she's going for size, she'll compromise on color.
My friend on the other hand, was so color sensitive that she refused to compromise on color and preferred to go smaller than below an F.

Hey Yimmers, I am just trying to make sure that the experienced PSers here can chime in to verify that I am making a decent purchase based on PS' strict criteria.

The exchange/return/upgrade policy is pretty lax, but to be honest, I really want to avoid going through this process. I want it to be a one and done and based on our social circle, it's uncustom to propose with diamond and then quickly replace it.

I asked her about color and she said she prefer to be as white as possible and as big as possible (size being # 1). I've compared a number of colors (K, J, I, H, G and F) and felt very comfortable with H.

Heh heh, then, you may have to keep looking and go a little smaller for a higher clarity if it bothers you that much. Did she mention how she feels about clarity?

We have not focused on clarity. So it's going to be gamble if i decide to choose this rock. I do like your idea of the crystal being a birthmark.

I think I can see it in the video, but that might because I know it's there.

Unfortunately once you know an inclusion is there you probably can't unsee it.

I agree with others in this thread...for the amount of money you are spending you should be 100% happy with the purchase. If you have doubts, walk away and find something better.

She said, “As big as possible”. No specific size...correct? I’d go with the largest H colored diamond, with the largest spread I could find, that doesn’t have a glaring, bothersome inclusion in it.
You may have to get a smaller stone than the one you chose, but it’s still not going to be small, at 2+ ct! Even if it’s 1.9+, that’s a nice size! If color & size are her preferences, find the best of both worlds without the nagging reminder of the obvious inclusion. There are really nice SI-VS clarity diamonds out there within great mm range, in your budget, between G & H color.

Haha, she did indicate she would have been sad if it the rock was under 2cts. I brought her to a jewler, and they showed a bunch of K-colored diamonds at 2.5cts, and i told her to not expect such a huge rock. She was upset but when I said it was going to be over 2.0 cts, she was substantially happier. I understand ct is just the weight and the spread is how big it looks, but she's more into the numbers and stats.

Then I’d go with the one you have.

Call WF and speak to them about the stone/inclusion. How visible is it at 10 inches? 6 inches? 15 inches? They will be honest with you and tell
you what they see.

Just a side note: mm in diameter is also numbers & stats. Spread is ultimately what matters, as far as finger coverage; it’s what you SEE...not how heavy it is.

Of course. But her girlfriends won't ask her what the spread is. They'll ask her how big it is (carots) and will comment on how big it looks on her finger. Honestly, I didn't even realize the spread was a thing until I came over to PS.
