So I finally got my corals. I bought a vintage Corallium rubrum 28'' long one and picked out the longest branches to make a 21''-ish one for myself and a shorter one for my daughter (one day ... she's 2yo). Then I had the two most exquisite little branches made into earrings. Awkward selfies but I love everything!

Gorgeous!!!!!! Stunning!!!!!

This is a lucky charm necklace I made recently.
It has an Italian horn, or 'corno' made of red coral,
an amazonite figa and a little turquoise heart.
I found the figa at a consignment shop, and I made the other two charms. I'm hoping for good luck! IMG_20171111_142904768.jpg

I have a coral necklace my husband (then boyfriend gave me) gave me in '85, he bought it from the museum of natural history in the city. BUT right now it's in my safe deposit box, I try to get it out this week and take a pix.. it's lovely with a 14K yellow gold clasp...

I thought I already posted this, but it doesn't look like it... this is a lovely 2.0 carat piece of Tyrhennian Sea Coral from Barry Bridgestock that I had Jill Anish (etsy shop Janish Jewels) set in 20kt yellow gold bezel and wide antiqued hammered silver shank - I really love how this Coral ring turned out and wear it quite often.

(the other ring is an Aquaprase cab from Barry Bridgestock in 14kt yellow gold setting by Jill Anish)

I received this Victorian coral and pearl brooch! I reminds me of Empress Sisi's star.

My husband picked this out. He has become quite the coral expert! I love wearing brooches, they make me feel better about wearing winter coats.

The lighter pink one was a gift which I made into a choker, and the darker red beads are also Native American. Finally, a Navajo, untreated coral cuff and a Zuni ring, which I fell in love with, made by now deceased Zuni artist Alice Quam. Almost all Native American pieces.

Hi Vesper! I felt the same way when I saw it. I was deeply moved by it. Thank you for the compliment!
I adore your beautiful brooch. It’s just fabulous, bold and delicate, with great proportions. You are right, Coral IS addictive. I had no idea until recently....and red/pink arent great colors on me. I’m still VERY in love with it.

That is so true. It really has a special kind of preciousness...the softness, the feel, the luster....

Sigh. Like I didn't have enough beauties to drool over...my bling repertoire has expanded considerably since I found you lovely ladies and pearls and colored stones. I don't know what took me so long to get here but I'm here now. For better or worse...thanks for welcoming me.

Thank you for the generous compliment, Missy! It’s so interesting how jewelry collections ‘evolve’. I really hadn’t considered coral before I was given the carved rose coral necklace. It came from a woman who’s mother always wore it. After mom died, she passed it onto me. I was so touched and started wearing it after having made it into a choker. Completely enthralled by the feel, It opened my mind to the possibility of coral, even though reds and pinks are not my best colors. The rest of the collection came within a 2 month period when I became completely obsessed with it. I find myself reaching for it when I need grounding and strength as it is both earthy and nurturing , if that makes sense. Coral seems to have a deeply soothing quality to it, with its weight and coolness. The softness and it’s ‘glow’ are almost indescribable...like a mixture between butter and pearls.
I’d still love to have a strand of larger beads now that I found some with small beads which I also love, and a pair of earrings to go with the choker, and a Carved fruit bracelet! Thankfully we still have things to hope for!
