i just did my nails and put my ring under my LED lamp. Does it mean they have been replaced with simulants/synthetics it is it normal? I did a quick search but the fluorescence I saw looked blue not green. Or is it just not the right kind of light?

Your light is LED, not UV?

I'm confused. It sounds like you were expecting green fluorescence?

it does emit UV, which is how it cures the gel nail polish. LED lamps emit narrow wavelength UV afaik.
I wasn't really expecting anything, that is why I'm surprised.

Well if its normal I will not worry :) I have done a bit more reading and seen there are a variety of colours that can happen :)

Only natural diamonds (not sims) will fluoresce. But not all diamonds do. So, no, nobody replaced your melee diamonds with fluorescing simulants

The non-fluorescent ones, however …(kidding)

That’s what my fiancé wondered, if it means that some of them have been replaced somewhere in the last 100 years (if it is as old as they said it is). I know that not all diamonds fluoresce but would it be likely that if they all came from the same place at the same time they might exhibit the same properties?

only if all the melee were cut from the same rough. Which is really unlikely.

Probably just as likely that they're all original. Having some with/without fluorescence would not indicate they were sourced at different times or places.

Diamonds have been a global market for a good long time. Stones from one mine and one country were mixed with stones from another in a way that made them impossible to separate, even if you wanted to. Even ignoring that, not all diamonds from the same location fluoresce the same any more than they will all be the same clarity.
