Lore, I agree with Sunstorm about frequent cleaning. I keep a jar of jewelry cleaner in my bathroom cabinet, and I soak my diamond ring most evenings and then brush and rinse before bed or the next morning. I rarely bother with an ultrasonic. The key is to never let grime build up, so cleaning every couple of days is very helpful and keeps the diamond looking its best.

Be certain to get the same label as pictured in the link. They do make other cleaners, but this one is for gold, platinum, and diamonds.

Thanks DS! I've heard that jewelry cleaner can be dangerous if the ring is left in there too long - is there any truth to that?

So far we've been washing it with a little bit of dish detergent and warm water, but I'm going to want a better, more permanent solution. The jewelry cleaner seems like a good compromise to the ultrasound.

What a beautiful ring!!!

Stunning.

I’m hesitant with an ultrasonic. Ours is channel set on the band and having diamonds vibrate in that setting rubbing against each other ... not something I would do regularly.

Thank you! After a year it still looks really nice with regular cleaning in my ammonia/water mix and baby toothbrush

I see your thread has been revived =)2. I missed it the first time around, but wanted to add that the ring is absolutely gorgeous, you did great!!! Congratulations! Did you have the wedding already? Did you your fiance (or maybe wife!) choose her wedding band? We'd love to see hand shots with the band next to her beautiful e-ring ;)2.

And to not leave you out.....what does your band look like?!

P.S. Super hot water and dish soap and a baby tooth brush are the way I clean my jewelry coupled with a cleaner like DS mentioned. If you're looking for more ideas, search 'best way to clean jewelry' or something similar in the search bar. There have been threads on this topic in the past =)2. But I think your current method is just fine!

I'm just glad I was able to inspire others with my ring (although the design is m-2-b's)!

My band is a simple Benchmark platinum ring with comfort fit. It looks like this:

We're not married yet but are actively shopping for her wedding band. We had settled on the Vatche Charis Pave but the diamonds don't shine as much we had hoped, so now we are trying to go with the WF Elena ring. Once I get it we'll be able to compare it side by side with the Charis. Thank goodness for WF's great customer service.

...was actually a VVS2 (I misposted) but yeah, I know.

Potato - potarto - that is one gorgeous ring! And I love the size on her hand - perfect proportions for her finger.

Do come back and show us the wedding ring you choose and how they look together; this is such a pretty ring, we'll all love seeing where your wedding jewelry journey lands.

Congratulations to you both, and best wishes for your life ahead!

@Lore do you know if softening the knife edge means all of the edges are softened? We're thinking of softening just the "inside" edges but not the "outside" edge.

Or maybe just leaving it be... when we went to look at the Tiffany ring it looked too flat or squished, like a pancake to us.

I thought it was just the CAD images on the WF site that made the "inside" face have a sharp cut, but they sent me these images to compare it to another setting without the knife edge. It has two edges, if you will:

Hi Lore- Any chance we can get a profile view on her hand. I realize that is super specific, but I'm trying to figure out how much height I want, and if it is worth going custom on. It's hard to get a grip on perspective when its just a picture. Thank you for posting as many pictures as you have though, it has been extremely helpful.

Haha, the proposal was one thing I didn't plan appropriately :) haven't figured out which wedding band but it'll probably be a simple 2mm band with small diamonds all around. Suggestions are welcome!

Here's another shot!

Did you have any issues with the ring? I really like the modifications you did and I wondered how it is wearing? any additional advice?
Thanks
