They come highly recommended. I just bought one, so obviously recommend them.

I think @tyty333 suggested this one, but I really like it as well. I like it better than the other BN stone.

I think OP has plenty to choose from, but here Is another one from me:

Super ideal from BGD with a nice spread (faces up as 0.7ct):
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d...0.690-h-vs1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104094705036 my very first diamond was an H color in the 0.6ct range and I absolutely loved it

What do you guys think of the following diamond?

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...e-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2762136

Is the hair in the middle noticeable enough? Also, it has strong fluorescence. Is that or a good bad thing? Online articles are conflicting and I'd rather get your opinion on the matter. Thank you.

OP, I hope others chime in on this one too, but to me it seems that it has some issues with transparency and it appears a bit hazy. It may have something to do with the strong blue flouro.. I think you have better suggestions than this one.

Btw I didn't see his one on your list, but it is very similar to your pick #2 and a little better I think because it doesn't have flouro. Tyty333 suggested it yesterday: https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD09003163

Also, your pick #1 is listed as "sold", did you reserve it by any chance? (https://www.jamesallen.com/mobile/l...d-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3292965)

Of the ones you posted, i prefer your first pick, i hope you put it on hold and someone didn't snatch it, it was a stellar deal for a D colored stone! As far as the E with strong fluorescence, just call JA and have them examine the stone. Ask if there is any haziness or milkiness due to the fluoro. The haziness in the video could be video quality (not all JA videos are the same quality, some really suck) or it could be from the fluoro. i personally LIKE fluoro in a stone, when i do gel nails, i love that some of the pave in my setting have fluoro and turn blue under the light. LOVE it. But its a YMMV thing, not everyone loves it.

Can i ask why so worried about SI1 clarity? If you look through stones on the JA site, you'll see that some SI1 stones appear very clean due to the type of inclusions. the HPD stone you like is twinning wisps and a small crystal. You'll notice it is labeled as eye clean. Each vendor has a slightly definition of eye clean, hpd has on their website:
"Crafted by Infinity Diamonds all meet our "Eye-Clean" definition.
No characteristics visible to a person with normal 20/20 vision viewing the diamond in the face-up position, at a distance of 25cm (10 inches), under normal overhead lighting."

So for ME personally, i would be fine with this. Some however want a "mind clean" stone, just knowing how the clarity plot LOOKS even though the stone may be clean when looking at it, bugs them. JUst like color, everyone is different, there is no right or wrong answer. You just have to determine if you want a mind clean or eye clean stone.

As far as setting, there are some inexpensive settings available in a vintage look. i actually (shockingly) prefer BN over JA for vintage. just not fond of a lot of the JA vintage settings.

https://www.bluenile.com/build-your...ing_21019?elem=img&track=product&vtype=sample

JA has an engraved setting too (but i prefer BN)
https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...engraved-solitaire-engagement-ring-item-53077

I really like this setting for a stone under 1ct, the tapering near the stone really emphasizes size

HPD will make you a video-- just call. I believe their SI1s are eye clean but you can also ask.

The big thing with blue Nile is the 100% upgrade policy. I have picked great diamonds there but have run into that policy twice where I would have upgraded if it wasn't 100%....

Some SI1s can look better than VS2s so I would take each stone for its own merits...

I have reserved this diamond! I didn't purchase yet. However, the only thing I'm scared is the cut. It's an excellent cut but not ideal/true hearts. Should I except a noticeable dip in light refraction and quality of the diamond due to this lower cut?

I reserved my first pick diamond! Just worried about cut of it. However, at this stage I need to find a James Allen setting if I'm getting the diamond there. I really like the above choice for vintage. I like the below design even though it's not vintage:

https://www.jamesallen.com/mobile/e...ite-pave-engagement-ring-flush-fit-item-56270

What do you think? Also I do want the setting to last longer despite 18k gold being more "brittle" and malleable. Is 18k white gold worth it?

Phew! Glad that you reserved it! OP the diamond is glorious, whoever recommended it found a unicorn! It is a D color, VS1 clarity, and it falls within the "ideal" proportions. It doesn't matter that JA didn't call it "true hearts" it is a gorgeous stone that is very much ideally cut, has excellent symmetry and it will perform exceptionally! Please don't hesitate to purchase it.

Regarding the setting, if you want something that will last the longest and will require the least amount of care, you might want to consider switching to platinum. It is a little more expensive, but most likely worth it.

It shouldn't be but ask the gemologist if it appears milky from the medium blue fluro just to be sure...

It is a beautiful stone with a reduction in price because of the medium blue...

I called and they said after I order, they can run the ideal-scope and do further inspection. They can provide full light and performance reports. If I am not happy with the results, I can get a full refund. The guy on the phone said it looks really clean online and that typically with medium fluor. does not cause a haze. Usually only with the strong flour. in a subset of diamonds.

Thank you very much for these ideas!! Unfortunately, it is a bit out of my price range as I may go platinum with the setting now. Price range is $600-$1350

She is very active and works in the food industry, so she encounters chemicals and other things of that nature. However, her ring size is 3.5 -- so I am shying away from bigger settings since her fingers are tiny. lol. Do you think it's better to go more moderate/simple on smaller fingers?

This is all very difficult now. I cannot find the right setting. :/

You can just purchase the diamond now with James Allen (be sure to ask if you may Also receive a discount if you ask for the JA advantage pricing on the diamond, but you must ask. Here's an old post that mentions this
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/pricescope-discount.209490/ and then after the proposal you can choose a setting together! Then you can take you time in selecting one that meets her requirements and active lifestyle.

You should get this stone that you have placed on hold before the time limit is over. This stone meets your requirements, budget and is better than the selection you saw at Shane's.

That is also a great idea. I'm kind of a traditionalist and would prefer to have the setting picked already. My future fiancé is temproraily not living with me due to a job opportunity. So I will be proposing to her out of state so I'd like for her to have that ring until she comes back home to me in January.

I have decided this is the setting I will go with! I will get the platinum version instead:
https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...engraved-solitaire-engagement-ring-item-53043

.77 I VS1 $2760
.71 D VS1 $2710 (im guessing this is priced so well due to the fluoro)
.71 E VS2 $2660 (same ^ Def have it checked out to make sure it's not hazy or milky due to the fluoro)

farrahlyn, wait a minute, you just single handily designed my ring... Thank you!!! I really appreciate it.

Thank you, everyone, for putting in your suggestions as well. This has really accelerated my decision-making process. I am super excited to pull the trigger tomorrow. I will also be making an interesting phone call to Shane Co tomorrow to cancel my entire order... Wish me luck! lol

Thank you!!! I know it's not very vintage, but I want something unique. I also want her to open the box and be wowed, so I hope I made the right decision. lol. Also, not to repost, but James Allen does a pricescope discount! I just got $140 off the entire purchase by referencing the forum and community. So, it still works!

Anyways, I will post pictures once I receive the ring in November. I might post some of the ideal-scope images I receive after lab testing as well so we can inspect the diamond further. Will have those in a week or so.

I know this is off topic, but any chance you can help me pick a ring box? She is a harry potter fan so I would like to get something unique:

Option 1: https://www.etsy.com/listing/479668268/golden-snitch-harry-potter-ring-box?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=snitch ring box&ref=sr_gallery_1
Option 2: https://www.shapeways.com/product/L...h-ring-box?optionId=60473842&li=related-items

Option 1 or 2? lol If this is unrelated, I can delete the post. I appreciate your time.

what a great idea!!! I like the etsy listing, the reviews are really great for the seller.

Ahh yes! I wanted to try something new. I like Option 2 because the quote is engraved on the golden snitch, and it stays attached as a whole when you open it to reveal the ring. I like that. Very tough decision. Side-note, ideal scope images are coming soon.

ooohhhh, i didn't look super closely, aesthetically i like the first mostly because of the interior and how the ring sits in the box. I don't like how with option 2 you'll need putty or something similar to make sure the ring stays put. and i'd hate to just GLUE a piece of foam in there, you know? thoughts?

Please post the images when you get them!

That's true. I would probably do a tiny amount of putty just to stick. It's platinum metal anyways, so it should be fine. The only reason why I'm leaning towards the second option is that it's one concise piece. Like you can slide it open and closed which is neat. lol. However, someone at work said the first option reminded him of an egg, which he didn't like. I thought that was weird feedback, but I could kind of see it. lol. I'm kinda digging the raw experience of just metal on the second. The polished brass looks great though. Look here:

That is the version with no wings. Pretty nice still though.

it is SUCH a unique piece! i do like that its one piece and if she is a die hard fan, she will appreciate it more than the other. the pic with the ring in it is really really stunning. If thats what your gut is telling you go go with then absolutely go for it, she is going to love the thought you put into this

Update 1
I have received an Ideal-Scope image of my diamond!!! This is Jame's Allen full response:
This is a stunning option! This eye clean diamond is a true "D" color and faces up very white. The overall brilliance and light performance are amazing. There is tons of scintillation and fire as well. All around this diamond is sure to dazzle you in person! The diamond is now moving to the jeweler for the mounting/setting process. I can not wait for you to see this in person!

I see some light leakage, but what do you guys think?
