Show me your CVB settings... with a stone 1ct or under?

I'm after pictures of CVB settings with smaller stones. While there appears to be a wealth of pictures with gorgeous huge blingy pieces, there doesn't seem to be anything out there at the 1ct range or under...

I'm asking as my brother is starting engagement ring shopping (exciting!!!) and I've FINALLY convinced him to take a closer look at Caysie's range ;-)

The problem is, he is on a limited budget and as far as I can tell, the maximum stone size we're going to be able to get is roughly 1ct. I had already purchased a 0.8ct stone from the lovely JDDN which was fine before because he had a very particular setting in mind (a very unique halo), but that plan has gone down the toilet since the seller decided to up their quote by about $1000 after ignoring my 'go ahead' emails for a month, telling me the quote had expired. NO THANK YOU!

My brother particularly likes the solitaires that Caysie makes- Dahlia... Jovyn... Sienna... Elsa... Need I go on? Jovyn seems to be the easiest but he has taken a liking to the detail on some of those other designs, and I can't tell how well it would translate to a much smaller stone!!

Any help and opinions would be greatly appreciated! :D

Wait I'm not following your story. So you have a stone but you don't have a setting? The seller of the setting bumped up his price? Not the seller of the diamond right?

What was the setting? What's gia budget? Sorry I don't have any examples of her Solis with smaller stones.

Not a solitaire, but this is the Casablanca with a 0.9ct center. The setting originally belonged to @soxfan and I think the proportions are perfect! (Size 3.75 finger)

it looks great on you! The proportions ARE perfect. I never felt like that setting overshadowed my stone. You need my matching engraved band to go with it!

Another non-solitaire: my wife's 1-ct marquise in a custom-designed double-halo...

sorry the post was a bit confusing...

Yes I have a stone that he was potentially going to use which I purchased from LT. the designer of the initial design we were going to go with openly advertises that they are happy to work with outside stones and we had confirmed this prior to purchasing the stone. We were given a quote for setting this in a particular design which we were informed would last till the end of August.

Unfortunately, on trying to get hold of the designer again all throughout August, we were ignored basically till the point where the quote had expired, with them replying in early September to say sorry we aren't going to honour your quote, here's the new price.

The initial design he wanted to go for had been a variant of a halo so the 0.8ct stone worked well. However, he has since decided he would much rather a solitaire so the stone I have bought is a little small and he is hoping to get something in the 1ct range after seeing some rings in person.

Thank you for posting soxfan's gorgeoua Casablanca! The design did scale beautifully from larger to smaller :)

@soxfan, I wish I could also get your engraved band in addition to the Sophia band I already purchased. Unfortunately, would need it sized down to a 3.5 :( While I'm at it, maybe I can just acquire your entire perfect collection?

Does he know what SHE likes? Because it sounds like he has gone from liking a halo and now to a solitaire, and it's likely she would have preferences.

For me, I'd rather have the .80 in a Casablanca than a 1 ct in one of the solitaires, but I do love Elsa and the Dahlia. I think those will have more impact with a slghtly larger stone, though.

I agree. To clarify, my .93 was an OEC, so faced up like a .80 mrb.

She likes a solitaire! Which is why I was hesitant to begin with with the other design but he really liked it...

So now we are back to looking at solitaires :)

Not a diamond, but a pinkish sapphire. It's 1,49 cts but colored stones usually face up smaller compared to diamonds.

The setting is a bezel solitaire by Caysie.

All the best in the search!!!

Oh my goodness, your ring is beautiful! I'm a sucker for warm diamonds in a white halo, but I think I prefer your version with coloured diamonds around a white centre even more!

WoW...that is absolutely gorgeous! That is truly beautiful on you! Sometimes, I wish I had gone waaaay smaller with my Casablanca...may still go that route someday. The Casablanca is without doubt one of my all-time favorite settings. I love it! And I adore CvB Inspired Designs.

IMG_3402.JPG IMG_3403.JPG IMG_3405.JPG IMG_5510.JPG I currently have a cvb project in the works and I got some preview pics! It is the zoe solitaire with Chloe uh "shoulders" and "cuffs". Caysie says the prongs need to be shaved down but otherwise the ring is almost done. I'm really excited about getting the finished project and totally agree about the prong size. It's a 1.11 ct oec about 6.51-6.59 mm so about a carat facing up. I think it's lovely and nice translation to a smaller stone. I kind of laughed that the prongs were so large, it makes me feel like my stone is on the smaller side of the stones that they usually work with, but Caysie eyes are spot on and will fix these minor mishaps before you get the finished product!

How stunning!!! I can see why you're excited! Thank you so much for posting this- it is super helpful! The size has translated beautifully :)

May I ask what ring size you are?

Thanks a lot Crystal! my ring size is 5.5. I made a stupid little ring holder when I first got my stone (incredibly ghetto) and the measurements that caysie gave me were pretty close to the ring dimensions so think this might be what the stone looks like on my finger

It is a 1.1 carat in a cvb design setting in platinum I looked at antique rings forever before considering custom and I could not be happier that I went with caysie. The entire process was easy.

So I finally have the ring for a bit and I wanted to share some finished shots of it with a 5.5 ring size, about a carat facing up (1.11ct actually). The setting indeed scaled down wonderfully, and somehow this setting almost makes my diamond seem bigger. I've gotten so many comments about how big it is (I am pretty size sensitive and I wanted my forever ring so I didn't end up going lower than a carat). So somehow this setting/my small fingers is translating to comments like wow it's so big! I think you can't go wrong with cvb and a smaller stone.
