I'm in NY. Our precious PSer ac117 is coming to me this morning and she will take my mom and I to the funeral home with just enough time for her to get home and hop on her flight for vacation.

My stomach was not doing great to begin with - before the accident, I was already throwing up this weekend from coughing fits so I'm a bit raw inside still. I started the morning sipping some coconut water and took a Zantac before attempting some coffee.

I'm glad to hear someone, especially a PSer, is taking you and your mom to the funeral home. I'm sure the next two days of services will be full a variety of emotions as people stop by to pay respects and remember your DH. I hope some share stories about DH that make you laugh.

I saw my husband and I didn't cry. I feel serene. I touched his hand and it was cold. It gave me closure. That's not him. He's gone.

I took my little bag with my first cat, Kerouac's fur and tucked it in his jacket pocket. Although I said no tie, (he hated them bc he had to wear one for work for years) the family put one on loosely lololol.

Ac117 went out of her way to go to a favorite bakery of mine to get my favorite cookies and my favorite breakfast of chocolate croissants. She helped me with my hair.

I hope you have more serene moments. We don't know each other, but I can tell from your posts that you have a sense of humor. I have been told that it helps keep a person sane in awful times. I know from experience that feline company helps.

I appreciate your honest thoughts. Too often folks feel compelled to give 'expected' answers to inquiries about them. You say what you feel and it is so much healthier to give a voice to your thoughts rather than suppress them or replace them with canned answers. Thank you for allowing us to be with you.

It seems in seeing your beloved that you can at least have that bit of closure in this journey. I am glad for you, as I think it is important.

@gemgirl spent the afternoon with me. She met a lot of people who are important to my husband and I. I swear I felt all of PS emanating through her. It was such an amazing thing for her to do this for me.
