depth: 60.1%
crown: 54.4'
pav: 40.3'

From what I hear, people seem to look at GIA certs as more reliable than AGS. Is this true?

Nice rock and good price.

AGS is considered as reliable as GIA plus they give crown and pavilion angles.

I guess the crown angle is 34.4 degrees, not 54.4?

GIA is the benchmark for color and clarity so yes, they are more reliable. Get to court and if the GIA says one thing and the AGS an other, expect the GIA to be the winner.

However, expect AGS to get it the same almost every time and you might as well treat them as comparable. Both are effectively the same from the point of view of a purchaser today and there's no point in treating the GIA as better.

Also, the AGS with their cut grading system has some tendency to see the better cut diamonds and that is a possible reason for favoring them. Not a guarantee but it is one possible filter to use if you need a quick way to narrow down your search.

If you'd written EGL or IGI you wouldn't have received an answer that they were basically the same. It is GIA and AGS and "the rest" when it comes to grading quality in the US.
