Hi there

I am a complete novice looking for a ring.

I have a stone in mind and wanted to get some expert advice on whether it is worth purchasing. The details are:

0.72 Ideal Cut
Clarity: VVS2
Color: F
Depth: 62.2
Table: 55
Girdle: Thin to medium, faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Very good
Symmetery: very good
Fluorescence: None
Crown angle: 34.9
Pavilion angle: 41.1
Measurements: 5.74-5.78 x 3.58mm
GIA certified

Can anyone out there let me know if this is a good stone? The company want about US $ 4000 for it. Can I do better and if so where?

Thanks and I look forward to your response

Hi Val,

I'm not an expert, so just a couple of comments.

The price sounds about right, may be just a little higher than in the Internet. I made a search on Pricescope for 0.72-F-VVS2 round ideal Hearts and Arrows and the price is about $4000.

Although your diamond is within AGS-ideal range of proportions, it has a bit deep pavilion. It will lead to partial light leakage under the table. See www.pricescope.com/tutor_agsideal.asp .

HCA score for this stone is 3.8 - Very Good
