I have recently inherited a .5 carat round diamond which I intend on resetting in a platinum tiffany style solitare. Generally speaking, how much can one expect to pay for the resetting? Also, how would you recommend I find a jeweler to appraise this for insurance purposes? I am new to diamonds, and there is much sentimentality attached to this one. Thanks in advance!

Hi ACBerry,

Resetting can cost you about $200-400 give or take including the Tiffany style ring depending on metal (gold or platinum).

Look for AGS jeweler in your area to give an appraisal. You can use AGS website: www.ags.org , just click on "Locate Jeweler" onthe left.

You can contact James Jolliff, JEI Enterprises located near Annapolis, Md. His lab is located in Gingerville near edgewater, MD. He is an independent appraiser...
