I just started the ring search about a week ago and stumbled across this site. My girlfriend had her mind set on this ring from Zales:

http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2250943

However, after reading all the information here I think I could do MUCH better for that price or maybe up to $1000 more. However, right now I am really interested in finding a place that has a setting very close to this. The accent diamonds look they are round in a common prong setting. The center diamond looks like it is in a V prong. I can't really tell what the bezel is from the picture. It looks similar to many cathedrals I have looked at. I was wondering if anyone has stumbled across something like this? I wish I had more info. I know she has been into Zales to try it on, but I have never seen it in person.

I don't really want to focus on the diamond until I know I can find this setting (or something very close).

Thanks in advance!

Well I actually have experience with this setting. I had this one the smaller version of the one you are looking at
http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2250944&kpc=1

When we decided to upgrade I always thought I would get the one your GF likes, but after my learning what I know now here at PS I decided to go a different route. I still wanted that setting. I have always loved that style. So I found a nice diamond and then found a setting like my old one.

I found a setting that I think is almost just like it except higher quality at whiteflash. It is also very reasonably priced. here is the link

Here is a link on PS that has more pics of the ring.

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=98332

My diamond is at whiteflash and in the process of being set in the petite open cathedral. I will post pics soon hopefully.

By the way, I liked the size of the ring that your GF likes. I called Zales and they said the measurements of the center stone in 1ctw princes stone is 5.00 X 5.00.
I picked a center stone close to that. Mine measures 5.30 X 5.31. I believe the whiteflash setting may have a slightly thinner band, which I like since it will make my center stone stand out more.

Jess, thanks for the reply! I also stumbled across that setting and was wondering if it was very similar to the one she was looking at. The main thing is i thought the prongs were a little different, but it seems as close as I am going to find.

I might just have to go into Zales to get a better idea of what that ring actually looks like (as well as the size of the diamond in respect to it). It might be worth it to get her opinion on the WF one it even though it might ruin some of the suprise (I guess the diamond can still be a suprise :) ).

I think whiteflash will change the prongs if you want. Does she want a princess cut?

That might be another option. Didn't think of that! I am pretty sure she is set on a princess.

If you are considered about the price, I found a ring very similar to the one that you posted. I think you can also customize the properties of the ring if you want. It is almost $1000 less than Zales' price. They also have the same style with round center stone.

James Allen also has a similar ring.  Their website only shows it with a round center, but it states it can accommodate a princess.
