D and I just booked our honeymoon flights! Cannot wait to go! We were originally going to go to Costa Rica but after visiting Singapore in June we decided we wanted to go back and explore that side of the world a bit more. So we're flying to Singapore, going to travel up through Malaysia and up to Thailand for just over three weeks and then spend a night in London and live it up for the last night. Don't know how I'm going to sleep with all the excitement tonight

I think if you go into Bangkok with the right frame of mind it is seriously AWESOME, Phuket would be my choice for an honeymoon though but loads of couples here do a week or two in Phuket and a couple of days in Bangkok. It is a poor country and a little gritty and grimy but the people are wonderful and really friendly the food is cheap and yummy (just watch the water and ice though places like Mc Donald's are okay) eat a ton of weird fruit you have never tried before, we really enjoyed it.

In the rainy season, it will rain but from what locals told us and what we experienced it rained for about an hour each afternoon about 2pm, however don't take that for word, it could be really different.

Where were (in the shopping district) we found things to be overpriced and people not willing to barter which was strange but we still some good deals, friends of our went to Phuket straight after we got back and they noticed the opposite, which is the norm. I think it had to do with where we were staying though but again heaps of fun. I personally loved the Tiger temple and for the price it was great value, and the tigers are so cute. Also with clothes sizes over there I have heard heaps of people say the sizes run small like REALLY small so something to take into consideration, I didn't buy anything though.

I have heard amazing things about Phuket we didn't get there this time but met honeymooning couples that had been there and loved it, beautiful place I really want to visit the jelly fish cave you can swim amongst them but they have no sting, you can also ride elephants as well and play with Gibbons - they are very funny and cute looking.

Thanks a million for that info Deelight! I'd heard that you have to approach Bangkok with the right frame of mind, it sounds like a cool place! One of the vets that I work with has been dating an Australian girl for the past six years and they go to Thailand every year so he told me to bring in a map with me this week and he'll advise us on where to go. He definitely recommended Phuket and I think the Phi Phi islands also. I just googled the Tiger Temple-wow! What beautiful cats. Thanks again for your info!!

No worries anytime if I can think of more I will be sure to add it.

Friends of ours went to PhiPhi and said it was beautiful, really lovely place, they enjoyed it they even had little cats that would come and visit them that lived at the hotel.

Also if you go to Bangkok, the Baiyoke Sky hotel has an observatory on the 78th floor (that you can visit if you stay there it is free but it is a small fee if you are not, breakfast is served on the 77th floor.

Also if you need to have access to the internet, some hotels will charge you INSANE amounts to use Wi-Fi but you can go to the Mc Donald's and connect for as little as 30 Baht for an hr :).

Also the massages are cheap and great :).

Fantastic!
What a wonderful plan, you are going to have an amazing honeymoon. Bangkok is amazing, the food, night markets, mmm. Anything deep fried is safe I figure. Yes, do watch out for the ice, I just read a study about how many people get ill from the ice on their flights! Crazy, apparently they just take on water wherever and freeze it, which might not kill everything...I'm always overly cautious though...as I am sure you are as well. But the fruit...mmmm, I'm jealous of you! How very exciting!

Thanks PrincessDijon and swimmer! That's definitely good to note about the ice-really don't want to be spending the honeymoon getting sick!! And I love deep fried food

Thanks again Delight-I was looking at pictures of the Phi Phi islands earlier today-they look so beautiful! Thanks for that tip about the internet. No doubt we'll be wanting to let everyone at home know how we're getting on (and I'll have withdrawals from posting on PS!)
