Hi Experts, I was hoping to get some input on the following information - thanks! I am trying to buy a 1ct (or bigger!) cushion cut diamond for an engagement ring. I have been looking for a stone with color at or above H, Clarity at or above VS2 and Cut at or above good. I would like the stone to be certified. I have been looking at ADOL and UScert online and have found stones between 1900-3000 dollars. What other things should i be looking for in a Cushion cut diamond? Does anyone have any suggestions for stones? Suggestions for other places to look? I have just finished graduate school so price really is important. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks for your time!

I would call Mark at Engagement Rings Direct. He knows his cushions and is a great vendor to work with. Cushions really need to be judged with your eyes...or those of a trusted vendor and Mark is certainly that.

To be honest, I think a nice cushion over 1 ct and with the specs you put above will cost over $3000. I suspect the ones you found could be poorly cut or perhaps a cushion modified brillant that is usually priced a little lower (they also have a crushed ice look that many do not like). You may consider dropping to an eye clean SI1. ![]()

Thanks Charmypoo, I hadnt even realised that there was such a thing as a cushion brilliant! Thanks very much for the advice. I think you are right, the specs seem a little difficult to fulfil for the price, appreciate the advice.

Ditto the ladies with contacting Mark at EDR, see what he can find for you!
