This is so exciting! My very own thread. Thank you elle for starting this for me. You are too kind! And thank you for your wonderful comment on my inspiration board! I'd invite you! (if I'd ever get that ring ) Sorry it took me so long, I was writing this in Word (and it was the weekend!)

Goodness, I don't know where to start! ha!

Well, I turned 27 back in July on the 10th. And speaking of the 10th, my boyfriend and I reached the 10 year milestone together on July 2nd. Time sure does fly!

I've always had an eye for fancy, sparkly, soft and dainty things since I was a little girl, i.e. velvet, jewels (diamonds ), cashmere, crystal chandeliers at your local hardware store (which I used to go straight over to look at while the parents were shopping ha!) I am your all around girly-girl for sure. My Mom always used to say that the hospital must have given her the wrong kid! (kidding of course) I was born and grew up here in Denver, Colorado.

And obviously, I have always had a thing for a good wedding. I think that all started back when I was the flower girl at the age of 4 for my cousin's wedding. I had the white dress, the flower basket, gloves and my very own parasol. My cousin was married in a church and before the wedding, the priest said I couldn’t use my parasol in the church. Man, was I upset. Right before walking down the isle, I took my gloves off, threw them to the ground, crossed my arms and said “I am NOT doing this!” haha! My Mom and Great Aunt had to convince me that my cousin would be sad and cry if I didn’t walk down the isle for her. So, I picked up my gloves and put them back on, grabbed the ring bearer’s arm and pulled him down the isle. I remember thinking how beautiful she was and how I'd loveeeeee to be just like her someday! So in the meantime, I used to hold weddings for Barbie and even at school (get this!) I made myself the local elementary school minister. I made a sign and put it on my desk that I would marry the other kids. I had a few clients. Unfortunately, their marriages didn't work out. But it's hard roughing it out at the mere age of 8. haha!

I am a very family oriented person. I’m still at home and don’t plan on living with FF until we are married. This way, we both get our space. Although, I do see him everyday. He comes over and I make us dinner and we hang out. And then on the weekends, we enjoy venturing out doing our usual and hanging out at his place (he owns a condo.) So I actually am hardly ever home these days. Which I miss so much, just being at home! I really enjoy spending time with my Mom, who is my best friend. She and I have the most fun and enjoy watching our soap opera together (she actually watched this soap with her Mother and I have been watching it with my Mother since after Sesame Street would end at a very young age.)

I had a little miniature schnauzer for 16 years. We grew up together. But back in ’05, I was at home sleeping when my Mom woke me up. She told me that my doggie went outside and fell in the grass. Then she wasn’t getting up. I of course was frantic (knowing how old she was) and rushed outside to see what was wrong. Sure enough, she was laying in the grass on her belly and trying to stand with her front paws but her back wouldn’t pick up. So I picked her up and carried her in the house. Even thinking about this upsets me……..I sat on the floor with her in my lap for about an hour and a half. She just laid there with me and my Mom as if she knew too. (uh, now I’m crying) Then I took her into my room and laid her in her bed at the foot of mine. I was wishing and willing her to get up but she just couldn’t. We called the vet and he told us it sounded like she had a stroke and was paralyzed. She wasn’t in any pain and it was up to us what we wanted to do. (the end was near) So because she wasn’t in any pain, we stayed with her. I read her these 2 books I had as a kid about dog’s that I used to read to her when we were so young. Taking a break, Mom and I were in the living room (you can see into part of my room where her bed was) when my doggie picked her head up and looked at me as if she was saying goodbye. I waved to her so she could see me waving (to say hi) and then she laid her head back down. Not too long after that, I went into my room and she wasn’t moving. I remember grabbing onto the door knob and falling to the floor calling my Mom in fear that she was gone. She was still very faintly breathing and so we sat with her until she passed. This was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. We had her cremated and I still to this day have her bed in that spot where her ashes lay. I’ve thought of getting another dog but it’s just too hard even still to consider. Maybe someday.

Back to FF. He is a wonderful guy. We were just 16 going on 17 when we met. It was all by accident but such perfect timing. Both still in high school, he was a senior and I was a junior. We talked on the phone and online for a year (LDR) he lived in Minnesota at the time. After he graduated from high school, he got a summer job to save up money and then when the summer was over, he moved here in August of '99 to be with me! It was such a romantic gesture!!! Renting an apartment literally just a couple of blocks away (he was 17 going on 18 in a couple of weeks) and got another job about a week after moving here. He didn’t go to college the first year living here to establish residency (for cheaper tuition.) I knew he was the one. Even at that age. And so did he. God, that was ages ago already.

So down the road…down the road…I finished school and struggled in my tough industry (Graphic Design) to find a good job. So I had to do a crappy unpaid internship to gain some experience. Then I got another job shortly after that as a Graphic Designer but was paid and worse yet- treated horribly. I hated it there. I was then laid off in June. I made a post about it here on PS. I was really down because I had been trying to start my career and look to the future but it’s hard when nobody will give you a chance! Then around the end of July or beginning of August I applied for the job I currently have. It took them a very long time to select someone and out of over 100 people, they chose me! (I still can’t believe it) I started mid September and I love it here! I am respected and get paid nearly twice as much as I did at the last job. So I FINALLY feel like I am headed down the right road!! FF on the other hand- finished school with his B.S. in May. (he had gone to school part time while working full time for many years but then transferred and started this accelerated program in ’06 which got him through much quicker. But hardly had any “us” time while doing that.) Well, he didn’t start looking for a job until this fall (I have no idea why) he has applied for 2 jobs. One of which rated him 93% into what they are looking for but no calls yet! It has become incredibly frustrating for me because as I have said several times here on PS, we won’t start a future until he gets this ‘career’ job and feels settled into it. (He is big on being all prepared and secure with money etc. etc. before marriage) Not only that, but this future job determines our entire future. (this is HUGE!) He wants to advance once into his career but is uncertain on if he needs a Masters or not to do so. Sooo……after he gets a job he will know if he needs a Masters to advance in the job or not. If he gets his Masters, that will be another 2 years AFTER he gets this job and probably a few months into it. Which means……..regardless of if he gets his Masters or not, we probably won’t get engaged for another 1 ½ to 3 years from now. Then again, it might just happen sooner than I think (if he would just get that new job already!) My best bet is in 2009 or 2010.

FF and I have become incredibly interested in homes as of late. Back in the summer, we ‘just for fun’ went to look at some new houses being built because they have an Italian/Tuscan style that I JUST LOVE!!! We were both so excited. After that, I discovered HGTV. We fell in love with this channel and watch it all the time now. (And, FF’s current job allows him to sometimes go out to new houses) so he took me to another new Italian/Tuscan development that he knew about and we looked at about 8 houses out there too. Falling more and more in love with this style, just a few weeks ago again, we went to another Italian style home and it is our dream home! Absolutely stunning (and so me!) I told him “First buy me the ring, then buy the house!” Unfortunately, we couldn’t currently afford this house. But it is everything we dream of! Just for the heck of it, we are going to keep an eye on it and see how much it sells for. I told him, maybe with the market these days it will still be up for sale and cheaper by the time we are married! (I wish!)

Some little known facts about DG:
• I’m a vegetarian. Personal choice at the age of 4. So I am a HUGE animal lover. I am ok with others eating meat (I’m not an extremist) but it’s something I will never do again.
• Favorite animals are dogs and bears (especially panda bears)
• I have a major sweet tooth!
• I love caramel. A huge fan of snickers!
• I enjoy painting oil paintings as well as ceramics
• I collect Tiffany vases, votives and bowls
• Favorite colors: Tiffany Blue and coral (which also happen to be my hopeful wedding colors too of course!)
• I adore Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant (speaking of this, I have a very classic style and demeanor about me…hmmm wonder where that came from?)
• I want to travel all over after marriage. At the top of my list…NYC, Italy and Hawaii
• I love shopping, Coach handbags, Tiffany’s is my favorite store

Favorite movies: The Notebook, The Departed, Sleepless in Seattle, Forrest Gump, Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, North By Northwest

Favorite tv shows: FRIENDS, The Office, House Hunters, Property Virgins, General Hospital, Ghost Hunters, Survivor

How I found PS:
Well, when the Tiffany Novo came out, I was IN LOVE with it. I went to the store to look at it (by myself) and thought that was the ring for me. I became obsessed with it and started to google it. I came across PS and looked around and thought “this place is awesome!” I joined immediately and haven’t looked back. Since joining PS and annoying my boyfriend (and probably fellow PS’ers) FF and I had a wonderful trip to Tiffany’s the day he graduated with his B.S. He always loved the Tiffany Setting for me but I never tried it on until then. Thinking I wouldn’t like it, I tried it on and was sooooooo much in love with it!! I’m over the Novo now as after looking at it a second time, I know it isn’t for me. FF also pointed out the Round Brilliant with Tapered Baguettes that he likes for me as well. I’d take either!! I love them both and will leave it all up to him (this is what he wants) Well, I should say….I will TRY to leave it up to him.

Why I chose the name Dreamgirl:
There are 2 reasons actually. First and foremost, the Dave Matthews Band song. FF says this song reminds him of me and it’s so sweet! Then second because I am a HUGE dreamer. All I ever do is dream about this and that. (FF happens to be a realist) I guess part of the reason I am like this is because I have this creative side to me that always takes over everything I do!

Favorite personal moments shared since joining PS:
Unexpected HUGE progress!!!!! Yay!
July 2 = BIG day
My dream wedding site is now his dream wedding site
I GOT THE JOB!!! I GOT THE JOB!!!

And just for Elle (and somewhere to keep better track of it)........my dream wedding inspiration board.....(once again, I hope FF doesn't see this wedding gown)
I would like to have something throwback to the 40's style. Very elegant and incredibly romantic! Summer time outside, a lacy gown, an old 40's wedding car, soft updo hair (think Allie in The Notebook in the boat) a Humphrey Bogart tux would be ideal (not sure FF will go for it) and of course, my favorite colors (which happen to compliment each other very well!)

My favorite meal from Carino's Italian Grill (formerly Johnny Carino's) is a good salad with ranch dressing to start, some tasty spaghetti with spicy marinara sauce, bread and for desert- Apple Skillitini (which is like a baked apple pastry that taste like pie) with ice cream on top. MMMMMM

Dreamgirl, it's such a pleasure reading about you. You sound like a girl I'd love to shop with!

What kind of clothes do you like to wear? Where do you shop? How would you describe your everyday style?

Lorelei- I know this will sound funny...but I actually wear Pure Tiffany. It smells so good (always smells like this in my store) so I just had to get it once and never looked back. A little pricy, but well worth the money. I don't always wear it throughout the week but I always make sure to wear it on the weekends. It last quite a while. I like FF to wear Kenneth Cole Black and Cool Water for Men.

kittybean- Awww thank you! I certainly love to shop. The best way to describe what I wear would probably be by where I buy my clothes at. I love to shop at Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft the most. Their clothes fit me perfectly and I love the style. I like to go for a classic & chic look. Think classic Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy meets today's Jennifer Aniston.

speaking of coats I LOVE COATS!!! I have a long black cashmere/wool coat that I ADORE! And these are 2 actual wool coats that I have. The green one is from Banana Republic that I bought last year (very throwback with those buttons! Reminds me of Jackie) and the one on the right I just bought this fall from Macy's. I believe it is a Nine West. (again, reminds me of a throwback style...) Pair them with some of my luxurious cashmere scarfs, hats and gloves and I am good to go!

Did I mention I love Coach?
I just bought my most expensive Coach (Soho Sig. Satchel) bag last month. I don't have any photos of her yet but she is gorgeous I will have to take a photo to share!

My lovely Madeline I bought in the spring (That bow reminds me so much of Grace Kelly's handbag)

My summer handbag collection is on the left, the winter collection is on the right:

I got a very classic, luxurious vibe from many of your posts . You also sound a lot like my old roommate, who has been called "the next Jackie O."

Speaking of whom, if you haven't, you must read What Would Jackie Do? by Shelly Branch and Sue Callaway. It's all about Jackie and channeling her in your own life. I think you'd enjoy it.

ETA: I also have an obsession with coats. Every time I go into a store in the winter, I immediately look at (and lust after) the coats. Lately I have been dying for a houndstooth coat.

Hey, Dreamgirl! I went into Tiffany's today and thought of you.

In reading through your posts here again, I saw that you like to paint oil paintings. I actually just began thinking that I would like to do the same, but I have no idea where to start. I have *some* artistic talent, and I've painting with acrylics on canvas before, but I would love some advice on where to begin with oils, i.e., what supplies to buy, where to buy them, and anything else you might like to share. I was thinking of starting a new thread on this--I'll let you know if I do so I don't threadjack your Who's Who!

Also, since we're both in the same geographic area, would you like to meet sometime? It would be such fun. If you're comfortable with it (totally okay if you're not!), maybe one of us could message the Admin for the other's email? (ETA: I actually don't know if that's actually okay to do?)

Thank you Paula! You are such a sweetheart! I am working on trying to get a photo of my new Coach handbag to share since I have all the other ones posted on here! Check back!

Skippy- Thank you for all your compliments! Now that I think about it, I do happen to have a lot of jackets too..

ilovethiswebsite- Thank you!! That is one of 2 rings S and I really like. But I've been browsing Tiffany's website and there are a few others that are looking rather yummy to me as well.....Oh the agony of waiting!

I got a very classic, luxurious vibe from many of your posts . You also sound a lot like my old roommate, who has been called 'the next Jackie O.'

I had no idea my vibes would radiate through my words! AWESOME! That pretty much is me! I haven't read that book but it sounds very interesting indeed. I will have to look into it. Thank you!

That would be awesome!  I'm in the Denver area.  If you can recommend any local stores for art supplies, that would be awesome too.
