Getting quoted at 3500 for this diamond.

Shape/Cutting: Round Brilliant
Measurements 6.10-6.20 x 3.85 mm
.91 Carat
Depth 62.6%
Table 59%
Clarity SI2
Color G
Girdle: Medium to Thick, Faceted
GIA Certified

Do you think its a good price? If not, can I get the jeweler to come down in price or should I just move on?

Thanks

You can do much better elsewhere on price and cut. This diamond is a bit deep and looks out of round as well.

Measurements 6.10-6.20 x 3.85 mm That's quite out of round. Also, a nicely cut 0.9x diamond should be about 6.30mm. This one looks small, and I bet it's due to the thick girdle.
.91 Carat
Depth 62.6% That's a bit deep considering that table is 59%. As noted above the stone will look a bit small for its weight. You're paying for some 'fat' you can't see.
Table 59% Nice... Not ideal, but still fine
Clarity SI2 Ummmmmh... Is it eye-clean?
Color G That's white!
Girdle: Medium to Thick, Faceted See above... That's the factor that makes the stone look small
GIA Certified

I would pass. It could be an attractive stone, but it's neither the steal of the century nor the most beautiful diamond you've ever seen. You can do much better IMO.
Also, you NEED to get crown and pavilion info.
Thanks----------------

The others already answered on cut and quality...I will respond on my opinion with price. The stone looks like an okay deal for $3500....almost a carat of weight...but the reason that its cheaper is because it's not looking that well cut from the #'s you posted. So you may be paying for a 'dead stone' or one that has alot of ctw in the depth, where no one sees it...not worth the $$. So what are your priorities? To get a stone for cheap or to get a well cut stone? $3500 may look like a deal for an almost 1c...but if its not cut well...IMO thats no deal at all. I would spend a little bit more and get a very well cut stone or drop my ctw or similar and get a well cut stone in the same range.

G color is great...you can even go to H if you still want a white stone but to save more $$ or get a better cut with that $$. SI2 is a great choice for maximizing the budget.

I ran a quick search and found alot of stones in your range or around there that are similar to what you are looking for if not better (e.g. G SI1 or G VS2 or H VS2) with H&A AGS0 cuts or similar. So you may have to look around a bit but I think you can spend that $3500 elsewhere and get a much better cut for the same $.

markymark,

You've gotten some very sound opinions on the diamond in the above posts. There really is nothing else to add that will shed light on your offer.

My suggestion to you would be to Run don't Walk from this diamond. Definitely can get a better diamond at the $3500 range.

Thanks very much each of you for your advice. I'm going to look elsewhere for a similar size & color w/ a better cut.
