I am getting married and my parents are giving us three fine European Cut diamonds from a set of 12 they puchased around 1949 in SF. They are all the same size 4.4mm, around 1/3 carat each, very white with excellant clarity. They have an appraisal somehwere that they have misplaced. How much should I expect to pay for a size 4 slim band platinum setting for three stones including the labor for mounting (Tiffany style)? Is a U cup a style of a 4 prong stone holder? Where online can I see a large selection of setting styles for a 3 stone ring? Thanks, Alex and Eri SF Bay Area - Berkeley - Marin County |

This page seems to cover most of the basic 3-stone settings: http://www.sndgems.com/threestonediamondrings.htm I'm not sure what you mean by U cup though. Could you mean tulip prongs? Fuffi, G.G., A.J.P. |
