Hi Corndoglover,

I think that diamond that you have in mind is pretty, but with your price range, I believe you can get a better cut diamond if you like.  Such as

It looks promising, but we need the crown and pavilion angles to be able to properly judge this diamond, does the report have them listed?  If so, if you could post them that would be a big help.

I believe the diamond's cut quality is listed as VG-Very Good.  The cut qaulity is good but for the price you are paying, you can go for a better cut quality such as Excellent Cut or Ideal Cut...The better cut quality of diamonds shows more fire and brillance.

Just FYI, GIA doesn't have an "ideal" cut. Excellent is the highest they will give and even then some excellents aren't so excellent! But some GIA excellents will be just as nice as the AGS "ideal" stones. So it's important not to confuse one as automatically being better than the other. It's just a different name.

SOrry, I dont have any more info.

Just hectic with all the info out there regarding diamonds and their specs. Worried about being severely ripped off, or getting something that sucks, but not knowing enough to know that.

But shes going to be happy when she gets it, and thats the main goal.

But thanks for the confidence booster "looks promising". def helpful.

I have a GIA triple excellent that's basically an AGS0.

~$4995 (bank wire price) got me: 1.06ct, J, SI1, med blue flour. Purchased from Good Old Gold.

I set it in platinum & it's fantastic. The SLIGHT hint of color is only noticeable from the side, and that's IF you know what to look for.

The depth, table, polish and symmetry do, but I would like to see the angles to get the true picture as these are so crucial to the diamond's performance, so if you could get that info that would be great!

I logged onto GIA and checked the cert, and there is no additional info unfortunately.

It is certified CanadaMark, which made it a little harder to find.

How can a GIA cert not have crown/pav angles? Or even %? That doesn't make sense ...

If it is an older report then they won't be listed unfortunately.  Sometimes you can find them online with the report check if you have the report # but it doesn't always pull up the info from what I understand.
