I have been waiting all day to get a chance to post that I went ring shopping today with BF! Today was our first time going so we were both a little nervous, but our sales guy was great and knew that we were just there getting some ideas and didn't pressure us at all. He let us know what would be the next step in the process when we're ready (Actually, I was ready as soon as I slipped the first ring onto my finger, haha), and he was really respectful towards us which made it a very nice first experience. I tried on Ritani, Tacori, Hearts on Fire... oh it made me dizzy with excitment! I've decided that Ritani is my style and have narrowed it down to 2 styles. We plan to keep looking at different places but we were very happy with this guy and would be happy to end up buying from him. I'm on could 9 that we had our first trip, and I already can't wait for the next one...

Thanks ladies! I was so excited all yesterday, I kept squealing. It took me a long time to fall asleep last night because I kept replaying the day in my head. But now I am starting wonder if I like the Ritani setting enough to have him spend so much money just on the setting. I know that I want a round center with pave/micropave which Ritani does so beautifully. I'm so confused- I loved it at the time, but now I'm wondering if I love it enough. I think this means I have to just keep trying on more rings...

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun! I think you should try on lots more rings (by yourself or with your SO) to see what you REALLY like. Try on many different styles--even ones that you might not think you'd like--as the perfect ring might be something that looks unexpectedly perfect on your hand. I would also look into what Whiteflash has to offer; they might be able to create the look you love, with an amazing center stone, for less than what you'd pay for a Ritani.

I don't normally post in here since I'm already engaged, but I like to read everyone's stories & keep up with who's gotten engaged. I was actually just about to post in here to be put on the list when FI popped the question in Sept., but anyway, back to the subject at hand... If you like the Ritani, but are concerned about cost, Ritani will make any of their settings in gold and palladium as well as the platinum that they are all advertised in. Just something to consider as both are much less expensive than platinum. You'll need to get a custom quote on the settings in WG or PD, but just as an example, I just ordered my setting from Ritani through Pearlman's and the setting I chose was $1600 in platinum, $750 or so in WG, and $625 in palladium. So you can save a lot of money if you go with something other than platinum.

Laurel- You're so right! When I talked with the jeweler about the possibility of getting it in white gold and whether or not that was a good idea since I've heard that platinum is so much sturider. He said that as long as I am person who will make sure to maintain the ring by having it inspected regularly, white gold is a safe option. However, if I am a person who would not go regularly, I would want to get platinum. I know that I would be diligent, so white gold is definitely an option! Ams- Thanks! I have been smiling since Sunday every time I think about it! That's a very pretty ring in your avatar! I liked Style Number: 1RZ3268BRP the best, and everytime I look at a pic, it makes happy. :) This is the link: http://www.ritani.com/collections/view/1 and it's the 3rd picture. I don't know how to post pics on here yet, and I just got a new computer so I don't know how this works, never mind how to post a pic here! Hopefully I get everything figured out soon.

It doesn't tarnish and is hypoallergenic. It also never needs to be replated like white gold as long as the alloy is 950 palladium (95% palladium 5% ruthenium). It was commonly used back in the 40's for wedding jewelry when platinum was only allowed to be used for military purposes.
