Well, with much great advice from everyone here, my journey is almost done.  Mark Morrell is in the process of designing me a wonderful setting.  You all heard me complain that the lady was SET on trillions on the side of a nice round center.  But Mark is putting together a way to make it look GREAT.  Just half way into the process with him, he is a genius, and a real nice man to boot.

This is one of me and the lady.  I like to call it "Beauty and the Beast.:
Pics of the ring to follow when done!

You guys are SO cute!! Your girlfriend is very beautiful!

It would be cool for someone to start a post where everyone could post pictures of themselves with their significant others..since so many times we get so involved in the lives of people as they search out something so incredibly intimate ...and then half the time we don't even see what they look like or a picture of the happy couple after proposal or something fun.

I know some people don't feel comfortable posting their pix of themselves...but maybe someone is brave enough to start a post like this. Our picture is already out there floating around...maybe I will have to dig it up and re-post.

Mara you are SO right. Sometimes we get so hung up in crown and pavilion angles, and price below RAP that we forget what this is really about: people.

I was hoping by posting this to start a trend of people posting pictures of themselves and their significant other. Plus, can't we all picture the ring SOOO much better if we see who it is for?!

It would be great to be able to put a face to a name (or a face to a ring in these cases).

Maybe, Mara, we can start a trend of "Show me the Significant Other!"

Okay here is one of ours...at our engagement party this summer. Notice the big cheesy corsage (courtesy of my Mom)....but it was a great time. I'll also post another cool one that shows us both in profile...I love candid shots like this. The photographer was a good friend at work who loves taking pix with his 10MP Sony digital cam. They came out awesome and he took 800 shots--for free no less!

Okay everyone...step up to the plate!!

I *heart* that first one of the two of you. You both look so damn happy. And your Mum & mine are cut from the same cloth - our engagement party's in January, and I am dreading the corsage already.

Sursum Corda!

Candide, Mara & NewlyEngaged, you ALL look fantastic!!!!! I propose that someone start a brand new thread of the newly engaged couples, rings, etc. That way, folks can just find it easily and all these fantastic photos won't get lost in another thread. These pics are way too cool NOT to share with everyone. What say?

Me, I'm already an old married lady so I call on one of you newly proposed to do it, c'mon, go for it! I love seeing pics like this.

Thanks again for sharing.

Mara, it's so good to finally put a face to a name. You have the look of a model.

Joy absolutely radiates in all of you.

Great pics, everyone. I'm not going to be totally gutsy and show current pictures, but here are two - one of the day we got engaged, one of our wedding day. Naturally, 10 years later, we don't look ANY different!

Thanks, Mara - can't wait to see yours! (When's your wedding?)

My hair is the big giveaway that it was the early 90's. I was thrilled with the flowers - I had asked the florist for an "english country" look and she outdid herself. I hope more people get the nerve to post a few pics - it's nice to have faces to go with the names!

Here I am!!!
I had a problem with my camera the past few days and couldn't upload pictures or videos I had taken.
I think I look chubby in this picture, but it is the most recent one of me, it was taken today!!!

One more!!!
I usually don't wear my hair down, I work in the NICU, so I always keep my hair off my face and in a ponytail.

Nice pictures! You look like a "Kayla". Great name - my daughter was going to name her baby Kayla if it had been a girl.

So you work in the NICU - are you a nurse? I'm finishing up nursing school and will be doin my practicum in the NICU - hope to work there when I get out. Any sage advice?

Thanks,
Actually, this is Kayla, my 3 year old!
Yes, I am a nurse, I have been working in NICU for almost two years, since I graduated.
Hmmmm, sage advice? Learn as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask questions if you're not sure about what to do. It's better than making a mistake. And if you do start working in the NICU, don't forget the parents, they are just as important as the babies.
I think all the pictures are great and hope people keep posting!!!!

She's bright and beautiful. You must be so proud.

It's been very apparent that the parents fall through the cracks in terms of training us. Lots of psychobable but the time I've spent there, there seemed to be a lot of restrictions on visitation, even in the B and C levels. I guess I'll try to glom onto someone who seems most empathetic and learn at the feet of the master. Thanks!

Kayla you have beautiful eyes!!! And of course you don't look chubby at all in that pic...we are always so hard on ourselves. I can't count the times when I reject a picture, or think I look X or Y and friends or the fiance think I am insane. We always see flaws where no one else does...

Doesn't it feel a little weird to have us all calling you Kayla when in fact that's your daughter's name? Hee Hee.

Everyone looks great. I agree with Mara, everyone is hardest on themselves, especially when posting themselves to a public forum like this.

Thanks for sharing. Hope more people pick up on this string and we can start putting more faces to the names/advice.

Thanks!

This is hubby and I at a wedding last weekend. We really don't look that goofy in person...we took the pic of ourselves so the angle it was taken at is a little strange.

Kayla, That's a hard but rewarding job you have. It must be really hard to leave your work at work when you go home.

Mara, Those chandelier earrings are just gorgeous!!!

You are one of those rare lucky people who looks as good in a candid as in a posed photo. Great smile! And you are definitely glowing.
