I Like Diamonds Rough Rock Total Posts: 25 Last Post: 11/20/2008 Member Since: 11/1/2008	So, BF and I are talking diamonds. He shows me this site...I find the ladies in waiting forum...My nickname might be a give-away. So, SHHH! I'm not really here-So, don't tell on me! I'm glad that there are others out there that feel the same way I do...I'm waiting...anytime would be great...really...I've been waiting long enough...Let's see. The wedding is planned-he just has to ask. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Here is the most recent issue. I want a 1ct diamond...BF wants something with quality. Quality means smaller stone. I wish he never gave me an option. Since when do girls get to pick? Shouldn't he just surprise me with something sparkly? I think sparkly things. But no. He asks me what I want...So, I tell him...Lots of stress over this now. Wish he never gave me the option...but I'm not complaining...Talking about diamonds is fun and all...but I'd like to see one on my finger. So, anyway. I thought I would say hi and be as covert as I can be...BF is at work...So, I get the opportunity to jot some thoughts, introduce myself and say hi! Oh and add me to the list!!!

The diamond thing can pose a bit of a dilemma. I would stick around and do some searching through Rockytalky and Show Me The Ring. LOTS of eye candy there and seeing real life photos can help give you a better idea of what you do and don't like in a diamond/setting. For example, when I first found PS, I didn't know anything about diamonds. The 4Cs were a huge mystery to me. I'm not saying I'm an expert now, but I have a good idea of what I want and what my priorities are (cut > clarity > colour, carat is mostly budget dependent and up to him). I found from browsing on here that personally, I don't need a D or E colour diamond - nor do I need something in the VVS range - and sacrificing those two will give us a lot more leeway on the budget. Then once I had an idea of what I liked, I sent SO a bunch of links to diamonds of varying carat sizes (all H&A RB, which is what I really want). That way he can see which attributes I find important and make a decision about the carat and budget aspects on his own.

Very cute introduction I definitely suggest taking advantage of the Rocky Talk post so you and your SO can reach a happy understanding of what you want in a stone. Like absolut_blonde said, cut>clarity>colour. Peak around the show me the ring thread and pay attention to the the specs the girls and guys list when they post. You'll be surprised. Theres a fine line between an ideal cut with lower clarity and colour and a very good cut with high clarity and colour. my SO and I had little knowledge beyond what jewelery stores try and feed you and this site has really opened our eyes to what we should be concentrating on. Good luck! Hope your stay is short for the rest of my life I will search for moments full of you ♥

LOL Specs he wants all quality...at the best price he can get for quanity...hearts and arrows diamond from WF. We are also looking at the legato setting and will get Tiffany & Co. wedding bands. (We were going to get the ring from T&Co but when BF found out the price we figured we could get a diamond elsewhere for a better price!) T&Co has always been a thing for us. He has bought all of my jewelry there. My specs 1 ct don't bore me with the other stuff...I don't understand it! I understand color and I understand clarity. I can see how the size vs color and clarity are dependent on one another...but I just like looking at the pretty pictures Oh size round...I think that covers it. Ok BF walked in...gotta go! More later

Just a silly update...So, BF and I get into it last night b/c I'm not super excited about all things shiney and sparkly...Don't get me wrong...I am...but after schoolwork-I'm exhausted. I find very little downtime to actually learn about diamonds. So, long story short...I tell him that I want him to pick out the ring b/c it is supposed to be a token of affection from him and I keep messing up his plans.He agrees that I am messing up his plans and we talked about size/price comparison...different things to think about that affect the price. I'm the one that doesn't want to spend mega dollars for a ring. When we looked at T&Co we could use that money for a down payment on a house or by a new used car. Seriously-ridiculous. That is why/how he found this site. All in all in the end we were much better than in the beginning of the conversation. Now, I'm just babbling and I need to get to school. Ta Ta for now!
