How much should an appraisal of a solitaire diamond engagement ring typically cost at a jeweler? Just a regular ol' appraisal. Also, how much does ring resizing typically cost?

Through my personal experience I have found most independent appraisers charge anywhere from $100-$200 for a typical appraisal. They generally take appointments by the hour. However, this is speaking from an independent appraiser standpoint, not just a jewelry store. So if you were to go into a jewelry store that sells loose diamonds and also jewelry than I'm not sure as to what they would charge. For resizing, a general charge that I have seen has fell around $25 for white or yellow gold and up to $55 for platinum. However, you may find better prices than what is listed above.
