Anyone heard of McGivern Diamonds? I was checking out their website and the prices seem reasonable. I'd love to hear from anyone who has dealt with them or heard anything about them.
Thanx!

They've been in the internet business for several years. I don't recall anybody posting a feedback here though.

If I'm not mistaken, they will send a diamond for inspection to an independent appraiser before you pay for it.

I talked to Mike McGivern during my diamond hunt earlier this year. I didn't find what I wanted through them , so didn't buy. He was one of the more helpful and seemingly straighforward (honest) of those I talked to. He would tell me if he thought I would be paying for something that wouldn't make a difference (like D color etc.) I can't give a recommendation based on a purchase experience, but I liked dealing with him, and he filled me in about their company history and process, which all seemed credible.

Do some homework by running a few searches etc, and give them a call. It's very much about how comfortable you are dealing with the people as well as making sure you cover yourself by using an independent appraiser before you send any money. Good luck...

I've been in their store, but looked at just a few stones.

The "it's one price in the store and a different price over the 'net" policy I was confronted with turned me off right away. It may be that they were referring only to a stone shipped off a diamond database, but it seemed like a silly thing to drop on a consumer within 2 minutes of his walking in the door.
