hey girls!

I've been chatting with friends and the SO (email only )lately. The friend conversations have mostly been about knowing a proposal is coming from SO within the next 10 months and the SO emails about ring settings and such. For some reason, despite being very decisive about many other things in my life ( ie - being able to get dressed without trying on 5 different tops and 3 different bottoms; knowing what I want to eat when I go out within 5 minutes; being able to study interiors and architecture and knowing what I like and what appeals to me and what I think isnt my style) I cannot for the life of me settle on any specific ring settings or basic ideas for a wedding.

I'm sure you all know that once you start talking about wedding to your girlfriends all the usual questions come up - what kind of wedding do you want to have, when, what kind of dress, etc. My answer thus far has been that I need to have at least 5 weddings to satisfy all the ideas I have as far as venues, locations, colors, time of year. In 2010 the day SO and I met lands on a Saturday in July, which made my heart swell when I first stumbled upon the coincidence a couple weeks ago. But sitting here enjoying the crisp weather and deep fall hues in the North East makes me want to have an October wedding. I'm sure once Winter and Spring come around the LIW in me will coo over those wedding possibilities as well.

As far as the ring goes - my SO has a better idea of what he likes out of all the options then I do. Ive told him that he'll probably have to just pick one and go with it instead of waiting for me to make up my mind. I wish I could have an E-ring for every finger haha. We've went and tried on Tiffany and Tacori and my favorite ring (The Legacy w GSs) has become one of my favorites instead of my one and only. I'd say two Tiffanys hold a special place in my heart as well as 3 Tacori's. AND we haven't even gone to look at HOF or the few Varna settings I wanted to try on. I've grown to feel like its trying to compare apples and oranges instead of apples and apples. I know that many of you have tried on your favorites and just knew - love at first sight - practically turned around and booked it for the door ready to take that ring with you and drive off a cliff in a powder blue convertible, just the two of you for eternity I feel like I've grown to love the different settings each for their own character instead of knowing one of them was it.

So thats what I'm feeling lately. Sorry for the lengthy post I just need to get some feedback from the people who know best! Have a nice week everyone

for the rest of my life I will search for moments full of you ♥

Okay, so this will not be helpful, but.....THAT'S WHY WE HAVE 10 FINGERS! I have the same issue. I started loving pave bands. Then split shanks. Now Halos. I'm sticking with halos. But will eventually get RHRs with the different elements of other stuff I like.

What about custom? Then you could combine the elements of each ring you love into one?

I agree! Pick out the key features that you really really love about each of your favourites and approach a designer about a custom setting! Are all of your favourites really different??

I initially wanted a halo e-ring but I've recently changed my mind. After seeing all of the gorgeous halo RHRs I am definitely investing in one (with a non-diamond gem) in the future!

They're all different, I think thats why I like so many. I'm not sure they could all be combined into one setting and thats what drives me away from custom. I guess as time goes by I'll progress to something I'm satisfied with - like you seemed to do sunnyd. It just a little disappointing that I couldnt find one ring and know "oh this is it". Er- maybe more frustrating then disappointing, not one single aspect concerning e-rings disappoints me not even the fact that I don't have one yet because, obviously, I dont know what I want

I think the RHR ring idea will be a good outlet for me. Maybe I can zero in on what I want to wear all the time and what I'd rather wear once and a while. Thanks for your help girls!

I don't know if it will help you, but I ran into the same dilemma. In the end I thought about myself at the proposal... what will I think. then at the wedding - what will I want then. Then with babies: what will be most practical. 10 years down the road - 20, 30... you get the drift. Yes, at some of those moments I wanted something much more elegant and flashy... but most of those times I thought I would want something elegant, yet subdued and I don't know how to really say it, but peaceful - something that doesn't scream "HIGH MAINTENANCE". Something that would look as appropriately beautiful with my sweats at the grocery store on Sunday morning as it does with my cocktail dress at a black tie affair (should I happen to find one of those things to go to!!! ;)

Anyway - I guess what you can see yourself wearing at every moment of your life- both important, and unimportant moments.

All the rest will be there for future diamond moments!

Do not dismiss the rough... for it is where the most beautiful diamonds are found.

SailorSweet - I had the same problem, so I decided to go with a solitare. I can always upgrade and change it later. Not sure if that helps, but I certainly agree that you should go custom if you can't decide.

thanks for replying glitterazzi and thomperchik.

glitterazzi - your reasoning makes a lot of sense. I'm have though about what might make me look too high maintenance, or provoke someone to rob me on the street haah And you're right - I should narrow things down to what I could comfortable wear out running errands without feeling like my ring is a piece of costume jewelery that I forgot to take off from the night before.

thomperchik - I know I'm not leaning towards solitares, I think thats one reason that I'm having such trouble. Sometimes I wish I could picture a solitaire on my finger because then I would just be about picking a variation and all about the diamond. None the less thanks for your response.

I'm glad to see that Im not the only LIW who didnt find a dream ring from the get go.
