Hi Ladies,

I've been engaged for almost a month now but I still haven't introduced myself over here. Here is my LIW story!

As I said, I have only been engaged for a month but I am already feeling the stress. Most of the venues FI and I are interested in are booked 2 years in advance so we need to get our butts into gear otherwise we will be waiting years and years to get married!

We've decided to have our ceremony at Bradley's head (I've attached a photo) and our reception at a restaurant on Sydney harbour. However, we are still very indecisive about the size of our wedding.
Catalina, a reception venue we are thinking of can cater 130 guests. This venue features a dance floor and would include more traditional elements of a wedding reception such as the first dance.
The other venue we are looking at, The Quay, can cater for 30 guests, no dance floor and will be more of a mingling event.
This is what I am leaning more towards- firstly due to price, we can have a 5 star event for under $10,000, but my FI seems a bit put off due to the lack of dance floor.

Anyway, we are going to go look at the venues within the next month or so and hopefully make a decision. I have linked the two venues we like.. any opinions?

Hi Dannielle!

Your ceremony place is beautiful!!  How would you set up the ceremony there?  I wish I could find a place like that - it look so serene.

Honestly I love both of the venues you linked to for a reception.  I know the bigger one is more expensive, but if you want any dancing, I'd say that's the one to lean towards.  I'd also say to base it partly on who you definitely want at your wedding.  I know you haven't decided on size yet, but if you start a list of people you can't imagine not having at your wedding, and it's over 30, sounds like a done deal to me (if the money isn't a deciding factor).  Regardless, both those places are so beautiful!  I love how they overlook the water.

I think we will be having a bigger wedding than I anticipated.
FI and I talked last night and he seems pretty set on having around 70 guests. It will nearly double what I wanted to spend, but it is his day too, and it means a lot to him

Thank you for the feedback- I'm not to sure how we will set up at Bradley's head, I'll probably go and watch a few weddings and get some ideas

My FI lived in Sydney for a couple years, and he said that Quay has some of the best food he ever ate. It looks amazing, too.

I would, though, figure out with your FI what atmosphere you are going for and then let that decide your venue.

70 is not too bad at all - haha compared to some people's 250, 70 is nothing!  I plan on about 75 also - that pretty much is my family and a few good friends, which is all I need!

You're an awesome bride for letting your FI have so much input.  Good job on that - I'm glad he's involved, and I'm glad you both will get to have input on the day that belongs to both of you, and it's good that you both compromise!

Let us know if you get any pics of weddings or figure out how you want to set up the ceremony - I think it's a beautiful location!!
