Non-Tacky Yellow Gold E-Rings? |

I'm a HUGE fan of brushed finish yellow gold jewelry. Most women seem to prefer white metal thesedays, but are there other women on PS that love modern & sleek looking yellow gold e-rings? I would love to see pictures if possible ![]() Here's a ring from Green Lake Jewelry Works in Seattle. Thanks!

Umm, I guess define 'non-tacky' and you might get more replies.... But I know Lumpkin has a gorgeous two toned ring. It's lovely! |

Well, I hope my ering is non-tacky, lol ! I originally had a WG ering, but have found over time I prefer YG on my skin etc. I really like the brushed look too, but perhaps for a RHR? Here is a link to my (regular finish), 18k YG solitaire.. http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=89827&pageNo=2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "And let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing." I think metal colours go in and out of style...and it seems to me that YG is on a comeback lately! So pick what YOU like. Here's mine: 2 tone, platinum head and 18k YG shank. It was made in a style sympathetic to my original e-ring from 1987, and I wanted to keep some of that 'old style'. It turned out beautifully. LS

I guess everyone has their own taste, I am not crazy about either of those rings you posted, they look very big and well, lumpy. The opposite of sleek to me actually!

Hi, MGT. I'm in the process right now of having my original .33 carat e-ring diamond reset in a platinum bezel with a satin finish 18K yellow gold band. I also had 5 teeny sapphires from another piece which, like the diamond, have more sentimental than monetary value, which are being set into the band - two on each side of the diamond, and one on the bottom (palm side) of the band. The sapphires are a lovely deep, bright blue. I wanted something simple and easy to wear as my every day ring, and two-tone so I'd feel comfortable wearing it with anything. I'll try to post pix when I get it, but it'll be a while.

I've seen tacky in all types of metals. My reset was from 14k white gold to 18k yellow gold and I love it! I just started a thread with pictures in SMTR.

I love YG!! You're right though, it's hard to find these days in styles that aren't to '80s and 'tacky', however, I found several modern bezels in YG at http://www.crossjewelers.com/style/active/default.htm that I think are beautiful! I also love this Sholdt!![]() ![]() MPH: In progress... |

Everyone has their own individual taste. Yellow gold, in my opinion, is not tacky, I think it looks fine on certain pieces of jewelry. I actually like the brushed gold rings you posted. I have older YG pieces from way back in the 70's and 80's, some I still wear, they are nice pieces. I love a classic large link YG bracelet. Gold hoops are very classic. I have found my taste going towards white gold and plat., just because that is what we see more nowadays. YG is making a comeback, I've seen more and more lately. But really it all depends on your personal taste and what you like.

I love yg these days, especially the mixed metal trend that is coming back. My e-ring is not yg, but my wedding band is! I will have it soon and will post photos. For now, I wear a Cartier Trinity in 3 golds (on right middle finger) and am loving it!

LOL! Gosh I hope yellow gold isn't tacky! I'm of the opinion that it's the first, the best, the REAL deal. The Pharaohs certainly thought so. Anyway, here is a link to mine. (It's the "pile" picture...) It's an equal mix of white and gold stuff. My e-ring is pretty obvious. What isn't obvious, is that before a stupid jeweler polished it nearly AWAY when "cleaning" my ring, I had a sandblast finish on the sides. As you can see though, the e-ring is very delicate, not chunky at all. Anyway, I had that finish put on there to match the blasted finish that was on the scattered diamond band you see in the middle. It was a very matte finish until I wore it down and shined it up through wear. I need to get it refreshed... |

I don't think yellow gold is tacky! I went with white gold because it matches more of my stuff, but I think a lot of yellow gold wedding sets are really beautiful! Rings can be tacky in any metal, I think it's all in the design and what looks good on your skin.
