I've seen and heard of these sushi places where the chefs constantly make sushi and it just goes around on a conveyor belt past the customers until someone chooses it. Is there a place like this anywhere near Dallas?

Not sure since I'm not from the area, but I wanted to let you know the only time my friends and I have ever gotten sick was from something like that. I don't know what restaurants' policies are regarding when to take the food off of the conveyor belt, so there may be something on there that has sat around for hours without going in the fridge.

Princess- Where was it that you got sick? I'm sure that kind of thing is pretty regulated here. I don't think I'd want to eat it if it was sitting out more than 15 minutes or so though.

conveyor belt sushi is not really something foodies are into.

Why is that? I believe I saw an episode where Andrew Zimmern (maybe Anthony Bourdain?) ate at a place that had one.

The places my friends and I got sick in were in Singapore and New York.

As for why foodies aren't really into these places...for me, it tends to not be the freshest, and you lose part of the flavour and texture when it sits out for a long time. I also love watching it be prepared, so the idea of it sitting around with some hidden chef is not something that thrills me, personally. I just really haven't found a place like that with the freshness you find in a really good sushi restaurant.

That being said, if you're not super-picky about your sushi, there's no harm in trying a place like that.

There's a place in South Arlington (I-20 and Cooper) called Nagoya. It's one of my favorite Japanese steakhouses, and I know they have a revolving sushi bar, though I've never eaten at it. If you're up for the drive, you could call to see if they have what you are looking for. Is what you're looking for called a revolving sushi bar?

Also, never eaten there, but there is a place called Sushi Zushi (in Dallas) that some of my friends rant and rave over. Not sure is they have a sushi bar.

ETA: Here's one I found on google (Tokyo No Hana), and it's in Lake Highlands... http://www.insiderpages.com/b/15240007670

I googled- revolving sushi bar dallas
