We've decided to go with DIY invitations, but are having them professionally printed. We just got our proofs from the printer, and things don't look right. First, I wonder if the text will fit onto our card. The text seems to be all caps, and bigger than the text used for our names. We wanted to use 10 or 8 pt Copperplate text, (lowercase letters are caps but smaller than the capital letters). I am also not sure where we should capitalize. HELP! Here is our text: Two lives, two hearts joined together in friendship united forever in love. It is with joy that we, Yekaterina MyLastName and Dmitry HisLastName together with our parents, invite you to share in a celebration of love as we are married on the eleventh day of january two thousand and nine at four o'clock in the afternoon at The Renaissance 2131 Hylan Blvd (Should we spell out blvd?) Staten Island, NY 10306 Herei s our invite, and attached is the proof. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bringing Brooklyn charm to California since 2008

First, I wouldn't use copperplate. It's too big and blocky, not elegant at all. Almost any caps can be done in smallcaps. Try it in Word. If you must have copperplate, you'll need to reduce the size of all your copy except the names, and increase the font size of the names.

Thanks marchswallowbird! I was doing the same exact thing in word, lol. I can't remember if it was Copperplate or some sort of engraver's font. It didn't look particularly heavy, but I suppose I need to see it on the proof. This is what I came up with, using book antiqua 9pt. What do you think? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Any thoughts on the grammatical correctness of the text?

The grammar is perfect. I wouldn't do 9 pt. type, though...too small, especially if you're inviting grandparents or anyone older. I would enlarge the type, and print vertically on your invite. You can tie the ribbon vertically, and it will look great.
