Unfortunately not much we can tell you without pictures or an ASET image...any way you could get these? Each cushion needs to be evaluated individually, there are no rules like with RB's.

I have sent the SA an email asking for some pics, so hopefully he will send some soon.

Does it matter for the pics that the stone is already set? It's a HW micropave cushion ring.

Also do you think I can ask for a ASET image, do they usually have one, Pardon my ignorance..

Ok just received a pic:

I asked him also what kind of cushion this is and the answer is cushion modified brilliant. So this means it has the crushed ice appearane, right? In that case maybe that's why I felt not 100% happy with it but I couldn't lay my finger on it. Remember i'm just a newbie :-) I do looove the setting.

So what do you think?

It probably does have a crushed ice look, but unfortunately that picture really isn't big enough to tell anything about the stone (but it does appear to have the crushed ice look). See how you can't see the facets? At the same time though, if it's from HW, I doubt it's a dog. In that case I would just pick the one with your eyes that you like the best!

I think it's a gorgeous ring but if you're wanting chunky facets then perhaps you should keep looking for a different stone.  I am a proud radiant owner so I love the crushed ice look, but if it doesn't sing to you then go with what does.  Can they give you any close up pictures of the diamond itself to make sure it's not what you're thinking?

I don't know if you've stumbled across this already or not, but there's a thread called A Cushion By Any Other Name that has plots and matching real images of different cushions.  It seems there is some confusion on what to call the different cushion 'styles' which of course adds to the confusion when we try and pick out the one we want based on what it's called; i.e. cushion modified brilliant, etc.

Good luck!
