While waiting for feedback on the rock, how about the setting? |

I've decided that I'll be going with a diamond that is roughly .81 to .83 carats in an emerald cut. I visited a local jeweler today to look at setting (in hopes that I actually decide on a center stone some day). I am looking for a platinum three-stone ring with emerald-cut side stones. He showed me a setting that they had available, and I liked it a lot. He recommended that for a center stone of this size that I go with side stones that were .25 carats. He said that he could get me matching .25 carate side stones, set and size the ring, and give me an appraisal of the ring for $1900. How does that price sound? Also, I've always heard that a 6-prong setting is more secure than a 4-prong. Does the same hold true for an emerald cut? I don't think I've seen a 6-prong setting for an emerald cut. Not even sure they exist. Do they? If so, is it worth hunting one down? Eric |
