I requested a Sarin report on a diamond I found on whiteflash. They were very helpful in getting the report to me, but there are some differences in the GIA report and the Sarin report. Both reports are below...

GIA
Measurement 6.09 x 4.77 x 3.08
Depth 64.6
Table 71
Girdle Thin to Medium
Cutlet none
Polish Very Good
Symmetry Very Good
Clarity VS1
Color F
Flourescence Faint

Sarin
Width/Length 4.81 6.11 L/W 1.27
Depth 64.1
Crown Angle 37.9 (37.6-38.1)
Crown height 9.0 (8.8-9.3)
Pavil angle 59.8 (58.3-61.3)
Pavil depth 53.5 (53.8-53.3)
Table size 73 3.51mm
Girdle thickness 1.6 (1.6-1.6)

There seems to be differences in the measurement, the table, and the depth. Which is more accurate?

What are your thoughts on this diamond for $2750?

This question gets asked and answered about every other week. The GIA measurements and the Sarin measurement are very rarely the same. The Sarin machine is not an engineer's dream when it comes to repeatable accuracy. When you add in a couple of more Sarin machines and look at the numbers, none of them will match. I keep saying that one of these days an engineer will build a better more accurate Sarin type machine but that day is not here yet. Which one is more correct? Take your pick! Are they all from the same diamond? You bet it is. There are other ways of matching a diamond to the certificate.

Dimonbob,

I can't exactly tell what the tone of your post was, but I wasn't trying to infer in any way that the conflicting reports meant that they weren't both for the same diamond.

I was just trying to figure out which one I should rely on. I can see that one isn't necessarily more reliable than the other, so thank you for that information.

I was more interested in opinions on the quality of the diamond.

I had three different sets of measurements for my diamond (AGS cert, the vendor's Sarin, and the Appraiser's Sarin). All three differed quite a bit! However, all three also indicated that the cut was well within ideal range.

I wouldn't worry if I were you, unless one of the sets of measurements you have indicates a questionable cut.
