Someone told me that it's possible to custom set diamonds on the bezel of a Rolex or a Cartier. I've never heard of it or seen anything like it, is this even true?

There are aftermarket diamond bezels for Rolex. I personally have not and would not buy one. Rolex sells them also but they will only sell them to you if you have a particular model. They are very expensive. I don't believe they will sell them to you if you have a TT, or so a dealer told me. Rolex doesn't like you playing around with their watches if you plan on sending it to them for service. I don't specifically know if a bezel is included in that.

Rolex will not service their product if the watch has an aftermarket bezel (or any other part for that fact). There are many fine aftermarket diamond bezels to be had and at a much less expensive price then the Rolex bezel. If you decide to change to an aftermarket bezel, it is Very Important that you keep the original bezel in a safe place. If you ever have to return the watch for service the original bezel will have to be replaced before you return it. ??I'm not sure but I don't think Rolex will sell their own diamond bezel for their own watch if the watch wasn't original with a diamond bezel from the factory. ?? That makes sense for the Rolex. I'm thinking more along the lines of the Cartier now....that person said that there are places that custom set the bezel and bracelet of a Cartier Francaise watch.

I found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31387&item=2662931314 I was really surprised! I guess the jeweler took the watch and custom set the diamonds. BTW, I am not affiliated with this seller in any way....just using this as reference.

Having a Cartier & Rolex watch, I can tell you both are pretty strict. You can answer you question by calling Cartier service in Dallas Fort Worth. They are quite approachable & should answer your question. Like the others have mentioned, be very careful w/ after market parts.
