Does this seem like a good deal?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10216&item=2661631131

The price seems really good, but are the dimensions good?

Thanks!

That is not a pic of the actual diamond.  If you check the seller's other items, you will see the same pic used on those auctions.

Oh, I know - I just wanted to ask if the experts thought that the dimensions/ stats were good for the price.

GIA Report on August 28, 2003
Laser Inscription Registry: "GIA 12797770"

MEAS: 6.74 - 6.76 x 4.16 mm
WEIGHT: 1.16 carat
DEPTH: 61.6 %
TABLE: 55 %
GIRDLE: Thin to Medium, Faceted
CULET: None
POLISH: Very Good
SYMMETRY: Excellent

Impossible to tell without the crown and pavilion angles. The ad says "The diamond has AGS 000 Proportions - Report available upon request." -- so request it!

ChooChoo:  Really second what Arlington is saying....it's just about impossible to tell without getting crown/pav angles.

I found comparable diamonds in this weight/color/clarity range from about $5900 if it's a "good" make (on a scale of fair-good-VG-ideal-ideal H&A) all the way up to about $7500 for those with known Ideal H&A proportions.

The pricing would suggest the make is only "good", but can't get more definite than that without proportions.

Gosh that picture on the auction is horrible..I would never use that to sell my diamonds!

For comparison, if you were to purchase online from a reputed online vendor...here is what you could get for similar pricing..and not on such a sketchy venue as eBay for a $6k purchase.

1.13 F SI2 Hearts and Arrows A Cut Above SuperIdeal cut 1.5 EX HCA $5600
1.15 H SI1 Hearts and Arrows AGS 0 1.6 EX HCA $5600
1.15 H VS2 Hearts and Arrows AGS 0 1.4 EX HCA $6300
1.21 G SI1 Hearts and Arrows AGS 0 1.7 EX HCA $6600
1.15 G VS2 Hearts and Arrows AGS 0 1.3 EX HCA $7160

Note that the last one is similar to what the auction has (1.15 G VS2) but it is a known and confirmed Hearts and Arrows cut. Sure this stone on the eBay auction has AGS 0 but that does not mean its a well cut stone. For  $600 more you can get the pictures of the stone and KNOW what you are buying.

In my opinion--eBay is a risky place to make such a large transaction, regardless of a 7 day return policy (should be longer IMO). But get that report, make sure it has crown and pavilion angles on it, and plug the #'s into the HCA. I hope it's a great stone. Ask for pictures of the REAL stone itself. Don't buy without those.

Then make some educated decisions, esp using the above stones for pricing and CUT comparison. Don't pay a Hearts and Arrows price for a stone that is only an 'okay' make. The above stones are all excellently cut. I would also not hesitate to look into SI1 stones for this size...as you can probably find an excellent cut and get the larger ctw size for the same money if not less (see above pricing etc). If it's eye clean..I would not pay the extra for VS2.

Good luck!! Be smart before you purchase--whatever you decide, get it checked out at an independent appraiser to be sure it's all good.
