One of the strangest things for me was the fact that all the vendors I worked closest to thanked me several times during the day for being a thoughtful considerate bride and for treating them so well. And honestly? I didn’t really go out of my way, I just treated them ‘normal’ for me. I did make sure they had food, water, some rest/breaks. I made sure my venue knew that we considered them ‘guests’ and that they should be treated accordingly. And all of them were just well, really grateful. It made me wonder how they are normally treated. |

I've always been very polite and courteous to the vendors that we've booked and checked out so far. I'm not a very confrontational person anyway and I hate being rude to people so I try never to be. I think that a lot of people tend to think that as they've hired the people, they can treat them however they like, which I hate.

Maybe it's a case of people not realizing that the vendors should be given dinner and things? ![]() I also think a lot of brides may just forget about the vendors. They're so wrapped up in the day and everything that's happening that they just forget to remember about the vendor's comfort. Hopefully people aren't being outright rude to their vendors! I'm sure there are some bridezillas out there who are less than polite though ![]()

Hey Married Lady! I too heard the same thing from my vendors. And not just that we treated them well, but that they appreciated how organized I was- they didn't have to "chase" me down for details, payment, etc... and that I wasn't "flaky". I was like "really?" i didn't think i had done anything extra-ordinary, but OK! I luved all my vendors, and would recommend 95% them in a heartbeat. I worked with a few over email/phone since the venue was 2.5 hours from home, and it was so nice to finally meet them in person on that day. They all hugged me and said what a pleasure it had been to be a part of our wedding day! Then again, watch shows like Bridezillas and that's a total eye-opener on how ignorant and insensitive people can get when dealing with people.

I suspect that smart wedding vendors say something similar to ALL their wedding couples. They're hoping you'll recommend them to your friends ![]() It's just good business to act like your customers were your best ever

Gypsy, I heard the exact same things from my vendors. But I actually asked one of them "why are you thanking ME?" and she said exactly what you suspect, that some brides are a nightmare and treat vendors as if they are substandard people because they are in the service industry. Unfortunately I was in a wedding where the bride treated the vendors exactly like that, like she was above them, and I made sure to go out of my way on the day of to treat the vendors with respect and care, and made sure THEY had everything they needed. They really appreciated it especially after the way the bride treated them.

I try to be very respectful and polite, like you said. I think some people have a "you're working for me, so you're below me" kind of attitude toward vendors, who knows. Some people are so rude!! But you're not one of them.

The other posters nailed it. A lot of people treat them like " indentured servants" when, in reality, the truth is closer to this: They're partners in the production of a pretty large-scale event. A few of them may even be artists in their own right (your florist, your photographer, your cake designer, your musicians). For them, professional fulfillment comes when they're being treated like artists who have been commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind work for their client (you). They don't like to be made to feel like they are "indentured servants" and a lot of brides do just that--they act like slave-drivers and forget to order food for the vendors, they forget to schedule breaks for the vendors, they neglect to tip their vendors, or send them thank-you's, stuff like that.

I got the exact same response. We are thanking all our vendors now that it is over and they seem shocked to hear from us again. Our cake maker was SO excited to hear back from us and was just so glad we called. The make-up artist said I was one of her all time favorite brides and I believe it.
