Got engaged!! My little story :)

luvthemstrawberries Ideal Rock Total Posts: 1,947 Last Post: 11/23/2009 Member Since: 6/19/2008	Well, after a long time of talking and waiting for things to fall into place for us, it finally happened - I got engaged last night! We like to go up to the observation deck at the airport near us a lot, especially at sunset, just to relax and watch the planes take off and land. It's always very crowded, so we usually just sit in the Jeep. We went out to eat last night and went the airport afterwards, and it wasn't crowded, so he asked if I'd like to go up to the deck. The sun was down but still lighting up the sky very much, and the storm off the coast was making the weather pretty windy and chilly. So we stood up there a while relaxing, and started to joke around about what I would do if he proposed right now. I was convinced this wasn't it, but after a while he suddenly turned me around and got down on his knee. We had the whole place to ourselves (NEVER happens), and he just simply said my name and he loves me and asked if I'd marry him. I had to squat down to his eye level for a minute and ask if he was really serious, and if we really get to do it for real now... haha so he just said yes and repeated himself and I said yes! It was very nice, very simple, and very much us. THEN he revealed his sneaky plan about how he'd gone over to my parents house and had this awesome conversation with them for an hour and a half and got their blessing and 100% support of us. Haha it made me laugh at how sneaky they all were, but now it's sinking in and I'm getting excited!! Just wanted to share my fun little story. We're going to pick out a ring together, and now I get to actually start making some concrete plans from all these ideas I've had for months!! See yall in the forum!

I think it's still sinking in - last night was so odd because part of me felt like it was just "words," because we'd talked about wanting to get married for quite some time. But he's never asked me it jokingly before, so I knew that was real, and calling my parents to tell them he asked made it even more real! Now to do some planning and find a little piece of jewelry for my left hand - and I'm sure it'll feel completely real then!!
