scarleta Ideal Rock Total Posts: 1,545 Last Post: 9/20/2009 Member Since: 2/25/2006	I am wondering if this is a common practice? First time it happened to me.Got a screen saver on my screen after visiting Amazon? What else did I get and have not yet discovered? Is this common practice??

Get yourself some antivirus software and run some scans. Even if you have a Mac (no market share=fewer attacks), you are still susceptible like anyone else to viruses/trojans. If you are seeing a screensaver now, it doesn't necessarily mean that Amazon had anything to do with it. The screensaver is a symptom of a larger problem or multiple problems (kind of like sores are a symptom of herpes...). If you've got trojans, you'll end up with quite a mess, as they multiply and "invite their friends" for a party in your computer. Either way, no person should be interacting with the internet without virus protection; I'm surprised this is the first problem you've had. Best of luck!

I currently have mine set to one corner, the screensaver turns on, one shows the desktop, and one shows all the different open windows. It could be that your default had one of the corners set as screensaver, and you just happened to move the mouse to that corner (I often accidentally do it when I'm trying to close a window).

Thanks for that.I suspect that you are right.The screen saver that I got was already in my screen savers ( the ones that came with Mac) I never use them so I never checked before. NOw do you know which corner has to be hit to activate it? Quite possible that I did just that. Do you use any A/V for your Mac? It's my work computer, and we are on a network, so I don't have anything to do with the antivirus for the Mac. I don't have my computer home with me, but I can check tomorrow on how to figure out the hot corners so you can reset them if you want to.

Or you can just open a finder window and type in hot corners.

Many thanks. Not a Mac user, but, assuming there is no Mac-specific antivirus software, I suggest you get anything but Norton Internet Security, or anything else that has to do with Norton Antivirus. It is insidious, takes up way too much space, sucks huge amounts of resources and constantly bothers you. Imagine A/V software that is like a 2 year old: running amok, knocking stuff over, and always needing attention. Good luck with your hot corners! Hee hee!
