did you think it made your wedding day more stressful?  How much did you do on your own?  I've always been a ver crafty person and previously i've made BM bouquets and center pieces, but i was never the bride...

I'd love to be able to do this myself and i know i could do a good job, i already have some ideas but being the bride, im sure its not normal that i'm running around creating centerpieces in my wedding gown..lol.  I have 7 bridesmaids and i know they would all be able to help so that i wouldnt have to, im just wondering if its really worth the trouble.  We'd have to create center pieces for 25 tables....

for those who did it, did you think it was worth the trouble?

i haven't been through it (yet) but i would NOT suggest taking this on yourself!

find someone (friend or hire) that will do serious consulting with you on the design, etc of the flowers, but the day of make sure it is in someone else's hands. floral designs have to be done on a specific timetable (i'm sure you know this!) and you don't want to have to plan your whole wedding week schedule and especially the day of around making boutonnieres and centerpieces. NOT worth the stress

if you are dead set on doing them all yourself, pick centerpieces that use very few fresh flowers and that can be arranged well in advance!

oh i wasnt planning on doing it all myself on the day of!  I could show my bridesmaids how to do it or recruit the help of family members.  I definitely dont plan on making floral arrangements in my wedding gown...lol.  I was just thinking that even having others help you tacks on a bit more stress to the bride since your not depending on a florist who is used to it and does it for a living...i was just wondering if its worth it.

For the most part my center pieces will be fairly simple (whether we make them or i have a florist create them).  I plan on having three vases of varying height with orchids floating in water inside and than a voltive candle that is lit on top...not hard at all to make.

MsSassy...I'm actually doing a similar thing for my centerpieces, submerged orchids and floating candles.  My aunt, my mom, and I are going to put them together the day before.  There are some other ideas that I'm thinking but we also plan on doing them before hand as well.  The good thing is that once you put the orchids in the water, the water magnifies the flower so you ony need one branch or maybe two of orchids depending on how big the vase is.  The main centerpiece that I have is a big tree and my aunt and I put it together already.  It only took about an hour to do it.  I'm debating on doing it for each table or every other table.  Now, my wedding is a year away and I've already got all the supplies.  i'm using an online florist and I'm perfectly fine with doing it myself (and my girls, my mom, and aunt).  We've got it all worked out and I know its not worth paying a florist to do what I am invisioning.

Good Luck, I say go for it!
